CZ-75B as a bullseye match gun?
« on: March 31, 2016, 07:57:28 AM »
No way, at least with a sloppy barrel bushing like my 75B 9mm slide had when I picked it up 5 years ago.  Bought a Kadet conversion and put the 9mm slide away.  Then CGW came out with the new barrel bushing and I decided to try it.  Reported a couple of weeks ago on the good results but hadn't really practiced with the gun like I have with the P-09 and CZ-97B"E", both of which are excellent bullseye guns.  No surprise with the 97, but unexpected from the P-09.  Decided to go through 60 rounds last night (after 120 with the Kadet) just to see how I could shoot the fixed slide in conditions just like I've been shooting for a year with the 97...

The first 10 rounds were excellent (for me).  I hit to the right on 5 of the last 10 rounds.  The Burris sight screws were loose.  I tightened them down and proceeded to timed and rapid fire....

These are as good as I can shoot with the P-09 and the CZ-97 match gun.  I think 40k+ rounds through this 75B frame with the CGW sear/hammer/etc. is of some benefit when shooting with this slide as well.

I have another match gun.  Who would have thought this was even possible with a plain ol' service pistol?  Me, after a lot of rounds through a P-09 and a 97B"E".

This is fun.  This is not easy.

I fixed the sight screws tonight.  Springer sends two sets of screws to use with their mount, I assume one for a Burris sight and one for a Doktor.  I used the long screws and they are a little too long.  The short ones looked too short, so I took about 1/32-1/16" off the end, cleaned them up and reinstalled.  Seem fine now.  They were bottoming out before the sight was snug, I think.

All good now.  Will shoot it again on Sunday.  Can't wait.

Joe, I enjoy reading your posts. One of these days I need to check out the matches around here. I've seen some listed but have never had the chance to go. [emoji22]

"Good" bullseye shooters shoot a match as well as they shoot in practice.  I'm not there yet.  :) :)  Thanks for the note.

Same here !!
BUT, for you, I think you should just stick to one pistol now. I think going with the 75B, you could have advantage of same ergonomics, grip and trigger in both 9mm and .22LR. Make sure the sight screws and other parts are set, the gun is as dirty as it can reliably work, and you will shoot as good in matches as you do in practice. I can't even think of shooting from any pistol other than my TSX (longslide sp01 Shadow).

Wow, very nice shooting. I'd be tickled to read someday that a fella named Joe got DD in CMP Service Pistol with a 75B!

Just curious, how easy/difficult is it getting the bushings out?

Is there a recommended procedure for driving it out?

My CZ-75 is 'acceptably' accurate but I'd like to see if something as simple as a CGW bushing might help things a bit.
Frankly my dear, I don't give a bleep
