So I saw my local Big 5 is having a deal on Federal Champion ammunition in 9 mm. Will this mess up the Chamber of an alloy framed P-01? I've heard of steel case ammo doing a number on it didn't know what the effects of aluminum casing would be. Anyone know? Thanks in advance.

Should be good to go; the bullet is riding up a steel ramp into a steel chamber. If anything, maybe a mis-extraction or two, the malleability of Al maybe differing from brass a little. My only objection so far is the Al cased stuff I run across is 115gr. Much prefer 124 for target and 147 for defense (and SD practice).

Before I started reloading and during a period where ammo was hard to find, I could only find aluminum cased 115 gr ammo. My 75B had a a problem extracting the aluminum cases with as many as 10% of the cartridges. Following a suggestion here on the forum, I installed a stronger extractor spring and that gave 100% reliability for the rest of my aluminum cased ammo.
I started reloading immediately following this incident. Many/most posters that use the american made aluminum cased 9mm ammo report no problems. YMMV.

I wouldn't buy any of it. I'm not sure how many people have had no problems with it in their CZ, but like 1SOW, I had regular failures to eject, and more than 10%. This is one of the lines of 9mm ammo that tends to cause problems with CZ. If I remember correctly, the problem is that the case rim is out of spec.
That ammo ran fine out of my VP9.

During the 'ammo shortage' I ran over a 1000 rounds of Remington aluminum cased 115 gr. ammo with no problems. YMMV. I mostly shot the ammo in an SP01 and a Shadow 1. Can't remember if I used it in my P01, but the frame material shouldn't have any impact as far as I can determine.

I had no reliability isses with Federal Champion Aluminum in my SP01 during the 'ammunition shortage'.
Did not have my P01 at that time.
Update us with your results.

No problems here with Aluminum Federal Champion with ANY of my 9mm Pistols. Have been buying it bulk.
Great for shooting in places where Brass Recovery is a problem.

Welcome Aboard !
My concern for aluminum cases comes from an entirely different quarter. If you're truly concerned about the price of volume shooting, then you might be "pinching pennies and loosing dollars". Just wondering if you happened to read this thread: https://czfirearms.us/index.php?topic=58939.0 ?
So my concern stems from the fact that aluminum cases can't be reloaded, whereas if you paid a penny more per round, then you'd end up with reloadable brass cartridge cases. Any cartridge case represents about 2/3 of the price of the ammo, no matter what material is used. So when you shoot your 100 round box at $33 and walk away, try to think of it as leaving $22 on the ground. If you want to throw down and walk away from $20 bills, then please, by all means, come shoot at my house !! ;D
Generally speaking, 9mm brass can be loaded up to ~25 times. So when you buy brass-cased ammo that $22 goes back home with you and is conserved. Eventually it's reused as THE major component in the next batch of reloads. This all starts with buying a cartridge case material that's worth picking up and recycling.
Right now I'm paying about $9.50 for the same 100 rounds you want to spend $33 on. Except my ammo is made with the finest materials and is tuned to my gun to deliver maximum accuracy. So for price and accuracy it's worth considering.
Hope this helps. ;)

I have shoot very few aluminum cased shells in my P-01.
Because the first box of 5 I shot 6 did not extract.
that's not a coincidence to me, that's a problem.
I'm not saying all aluminum casing react the same in all P-01
I'm just sayin I'm not going to do it any more.
and there is the reloading thing as well......

It will not hurt your pistol. As said you may have some extraction problems but no damage. Steel cased ammo will cause faster wear but not that fast and the CZ will last a long time.
