For the holidays coming up I wanted to stock up on powder again. Sport Pistol is around but I had to look a little harder. Found it at Brownells and they had free shipping and basically 10% off over certain order sizes today. Got two 8 lb jugs of Sport Pistol along with a few punches and a mag to get the order over $300 to qualify for another tier of discount.
8lb jugs are 134.99 and then splitting the haz mat fee across them equals $144.99 for each 8lb jug. If I had ordered nothing else the discount would have covered haz mat and they would have been 134.99 each (since I broke some punches I finally had to ordere replacements...)
With currently shooting 115 gr Gallant bullets and S&B primers and running an avg of 4.5 gr of Sport Pistol my costs are:
Price per
1 Round: $0.087
50 rounds: $4.36
1,000: $87.17

Thanks Wobbly, I should have made a better subject line to start.

Excellent deal 15K of Winchester primers came out to 25 a thousand. Thank you for the heads up.

Depending on the mid-term election outcome....
If it goes our way I would expect primer prices to keep falling. I believe these sale prices are simply the harbinger of prices to come due to the current glut of low-priced loaded ammo. Dealers are already seeing lower wholesale prices (thus the sales), BUT they don't want to drop the price just yet in case a Blue Wave win sets off another manic buying spree. It's been a lean summer, so making $5 extra on every box of primers would be welcome pre-Christmas bonus.
If the vote is a decisive defeat for the liberals, then primer prices should be down to between $20 to $25 in 1K volumes by summer. So as always, remember to vote on Tuesday.

I believe the discounts are $10 off $99, $20 off $200, and $35 off $300, not percentages. Vortex optics are excluded (not pertinent to reloading, I know), not sure if other items are.
[You are correct. I'm usually able to Copy to keep the details straight, but not this time.]
