Title: Suggestions, Buy a CZP10C now or wait till the New vers of the CZP10C comes out?
Post by: Deacon_N on December 11, 2018, 09:10:44 PM
Maybe you guys have more information then I can find.
Looking at buying a FDE CZP10C, watched many a videos on YouTube and read many reviews online and as a general consensus the P10 c gets great reviews. Found a online retailer with a stellar price (Sub $400). So I went to one of the local gun stores and checked it out. Definitely nicer in the hand then my glocks ( I have a gen 4 G19, Gen 5 19MOS , G45 and a G17 Gen4) as well as other handguns. Didn't intend on that many Glocks but for me, like to keep close to the same platform for commonality SHTF scenarios etc.
Anyway was told that  Model CZ91521 has being discontinued ( the sub $400 FDE version I was looking to get) and being replaced with Model CZ91532 ( this version has the improved mag release) . This of course applies to the Black frame version as well.
So my question is -  does anyone know if that is the only change ?
If thats the only change then I assume it would be worthwhile to get the one listed now and just pop in a $30 Apex mag release and be done. But would be kicking myself if there were other improvements and I jumped the gun to soon -- so to speak.

Anyone have any thing to add ?
I know there will be 3 optic ready versions available but I would assume there gonna get grapped quick and hold closer to retail for some time.

Appreciate any info

The mag release is the only change that I?m aware of. Also, even tho they will be made in the USA, the wait for the new FDE may be awhile. I assume the black models will be released first then the FDE. But of course that?s just a guess on my part.

I bought the same FDE model with night sights (91521) on Grabagun a week ago for 379. Can't beat that deal at all. I say get it now.

Darn it !

Went to order and its back to normal price .... So I guess I'll wait till I see the deal again... appreciate all the responses ...
The one I looked at in the store did not have the cuts in the rear slide plate, the owner of this small shop had ordered a few and was down to 2 - he ordered both of these in January 18... Am I to assume anything I order online now will have the corrections to the slide ?

@hyujmn - Did you get the corrected version ?   Also the 2 I handled in the store , the mag was difficult to release compared to my glocks and also the SIG 320 I looked at.

If it was me, I?d wait until a newer version is available. I may be in the minority but I was extremely underwhelmed with the initial release of the P10 and sold mine after just a couple of range trips. Seemed to have some good potential but also seemed rushed to get it out the door despite obvious bugs in design. Was the one disappointing gun CZ has put out that I?ve owned IMHO.
Many others seem to like it very well though so you may well also.

I believe the new version also fixes the possible striker rotation issue, but CGW?s fix for the older version does that as well.

Wouldn?t the latest run of the P-10s with the notch in the backplate also have addressed the striker rotation issue as well?

I?m really tempted to pick up a 2nd P10 in FDE with night sights for sub 400 dollars

As much as I?m waiting for the P10S and will throw cash as the first LGS that gets on in stock, I?d opt for the initial version if I were in the market for a third P10C.  The two differences are the ambi mag release goes away and the trigger is reshaped to reduce bite.

I like the ambi release and find the feel of the current P10C mag release to be about perfect.  It?s a step backwards to go to the single sided mag release to appease the guys that judge a gun by how it feels factory fresh.  Put 500 rounds through it and then sell it if it?s not to your liking.  To sell without giving the gun a chance to get out of that fresh, just built grittiness is silly.  I found out how useful a full ambi gun is this year when I had rotator cuff surgery done and became a full lefty for 3 months.  Once the shoulder was torn up, I didn?t have the ability to disassemble and change the mag to the lefty config.  But, my P10Cs just got shot lefty until the right arm came back online with no changes needed or slow down in my shooting routine.

The trigger change is not a big deal to me since I would swap out for a CGW Gen II trigger anyways.  The new OR version would be enough to get me to buy a new one though.

Yes, the one I got has the correct slide plate with the notch. The mag release is also very difficult to press for me too. I tried sanding down that spot a bit when I did the initial cleaning but it only helped a little bit. Probably gonna go the apex mag release route.

Mine has a test fire date from 10/17/2018.

The Apex mag release is night and day difference from the original P10C mag release.

The P10S really has my eye as well. With the current P10C, the mag release is horrible. It is just a bad design if you ask me. FN has had a full ambi mag release for years and it works just fine out of the box.

When I got my first P10C, I took it apart and polished the mag release to improve the feel but I didn?t need to do that with the second P10C.  For some reason (maybe lucky?) it felt pretty good out of the box and as the round count rises, it?s just about perfect now.  Not too stiff, but also not soft enough to have to worry about unintentional mag drops during carry.

I?ve never shot an FN, but I?ll take a look at the mag release the next time I?m at a LGS.  I wonder how they did theirs differently.

DISREGARD found the pic in another thread finally

Sorry to resurrect this thread. I usually lurk but this is the same question I can looking to answer.

Is there a picture of the corrected slide plate somewhere, or would someone please post one? I found an FTE for sale and want to be sure it?s current. I read on another thread that the test fires after August 2018 seem to be another indication it?s a current model. Thanks.

Verdict - absolutely love it, with one issue I?ve heard all about and didn?t experience on the rental I shot. The is intermittent, but there?s a significant ?catch? occasionally on the initial trigger take-up.

My understand is this should work itself out after 500 rounds or so. Would that be about correct? I?d prefer to leave it stock for now, rather than swapping out trigger kits.

Ran four different FMJ and three different JHP through it, with not one hiccup.

Not one regret picking this up. I?ve never been a poly or striker guy, but this gun has completely changed that!

In dry firing now, it looks like the trigger issue  may partly be my pad placement. Righty, it?s relatively smooth regardless of position or if I roll my finger pad. Lefty, I seem to have to get it on there just about straight on, which is interesting.

Hi, I have been dealing with the same issue(stiff Mag release Buttons(right&left side). All you need to do is give the gun a Lube Bath(mag release latch area inside grip area)THEN, wipe-off Gun inside& out....take a small coin, insert empty Mag,put coin on mag release button and work the button with a mag inserted! In&out for about an hour or so....coin will keep you from killN your fingers&thumb! Then go to shooting range and shoot about 200 rounds! Problem solved! I bought my Gun about a week ago! Had same problem as you! This method works like a champ! bar code model number # 91521 Stock Night-sights ambi mag release and stiff slide-stop issue....I don't use slide release to charge gun. If, you are on the fence about getting  a P 10 C get one now while you can still get the ambi mag release buttons! The issues are small and not a big deal! CZ QC that's the big issue ! Trying to get market share and rushing a gun into production!

Short answer....Yes, I believe so. However, My mag buttons were stiff and so is my slide-stop button. Mag release button is an easy fix with lube and working the buttons while watching TV...insert empty Mag...in&out then, go to range and put about 200 to 300 rounds down range.  Use a penny to save your fingers....put penny on button and work the mag release button. Hope this helps.

A friend spoke to CZ yesterday and all models have been updated. Models with ambi mag release buttons(91521) FDE/Blk may or may-not have stiff buttons and same with slide-stop buttons.

striker rotation issue was fixed in early 2018 if, the slide plate has a notch at 3 pm you're good to go. Also, Ambi Mag release is an easy fix w/lube and shooting the Gun with full Mags(about 200 to 300 rounds)Mag release/slide stop issues were blown way out of reality.  The P10C loosens up at around 200 to 300 rounds and works as smooth as silk. People got upset cause "The CZ" needed some ware-in time and most people don't have any patience!

I literally can't imagine a modern pistol that you cannot safely dry fire, which is core to training.
