CGW Ultra Lite Kit
CGW Reduced Power Trigger Return Spring
CGW Floating Trigger Spring
CZC Decocker Hammer

Really like the black nitrite finish on the flatter profile trigger....thanks to CGW for offering this option!

Actually also filed (rounded) & polished the rear edge of the slide that contacts the hammer when the slide cycles, and just the rear part of the slide rails where the transfer bar lobes ride....hard to get good pics with the oil on the slide/frame but in person mirror-like
(http://i.imgur.com/MdtSxFA.jpg)
The transfer bar was polished on all sides as well as the top lobes that ride in the slide notches during cycling.

Looking good,enjoy!

I do like those sights, I might have to get a set .

That turned out really nice.

A little history, I have to admit that in years past I've had several CZ specific compacts; P01, P06, PCR, 75B steel.....in some cases a couple/few of a particular model.....along with many, many...did I mention many other brands. A few of years ago I slimmed the collection down to just full-size CZ's.....I haven't really missed the compacts, though recently I just wanted "one" compact on hand, the one I always preferred was the P01, for a variety of reasons.....all of which really lend it to being "THE" compact, not just CZ-wise but really available on the market these days. Its versatility, durability, ability to be modified relatively easily, bang for the buck, and performance really made me come back to the compact universe for just this "one". I hope everyone has their own "one".....the P01 is mine ;)

That is a really nice set up.

Very nice! Thanks for sharing all the info. I just purchased a P-01 myself and am preparing to have it sent to Cajun for a Pro Kit install. Is the front sight also Trijicon?
-
Nice looking P-01. What is the story on the trigger, did you have it refinished yourself?
Thank you for the post and the pics.

The front is Trijicon.....CZC is the only source for it, as I understand it they are made specifically for CZC by Trijicon...I've tried to find them on Trijicon's website, as well as elsewhere but CZC is it. The sights "Gold" Ring is bright yellow during daylight, and a normal green glow in dark conditions.

Thank you for the post and the pics.
The trigger is the same one, "Old Style 85C" (link below), CGW has offered in the past in matt stainless, difference is CGW now offers it with the black nitrite finish, it is a $15 upgrade from the stainless one but I really like this trigger with the very durable black nitrite finish better. I always like seeing :o things in pics....talking is nice but seeing is really worth a 1000 words as the saying goes :)

^^Neat, i had not heard about the black option. It is more low key, to me low key is good. I will need to grab a few. Thank you for the info TG.

So I sing the praises of CZ?s to anyone that will listen......so in this instance I find myself in somewhat uncharted waters....hear me out ???
Got this P01 and modified straight out of the box.....finally got it to the range and it was a jam-o--matic. Turned out there was an ever so small metal machining burr that caught the back side of the brass rim as it was pushing up between the frame and the extractor....figured that out after getting it home and looking at what was happening while racking the slide dozens of time....took a file to that, problem solved!
Took it back out to the range and put about 150 rds through it flawlessly and notice the sear retaining pin had worked it way out about half way ::) This should NEVER happen......got it home and determined the pin appears to be improperly sized....or in other words it does not have the proper taper to lock it into place...possibly a bad batch?....I did not gauge it, couldn?t find my gauge, but it?s the only thing that makes sense. Just sitting at home and pulling the trigger was causing it to work it?s way out the non-controls side.....have a replacement on order.
All the upgrades were fine......sorry to have to say CZ kind of missed the mark this time, on this line production P01.
Not complaining, just sharing some ?reality?, this P01 will get nursed back to health and be as durable/reliable as it?s brothers..... no CZ left behind!!! :)

Which way is the retaining pin working out? Are you sure it?s the correct pin? How about some pics?

It?s working it?s way out on the right side (the non-control side).....the P01 has the retaining washer underneath the decocker to prevent the pin from backing out that side. The washer fits over the crowned (slightly domed/rounded) end of the pin, whereas the flat/flush end with the beveled edges goes completely through the sear cage and is flush with the other side of the frame. I know it?s in correctly, done dozens of rebuilds/refurbs, that was the first thing I checked too.....had the same thought, but it was in correctly.

I have seen that a few times on the forum over the years. Each time unfortunately was due to the right side hole being opened up a bit accidentally. Not saying that?s what you did, it is possible it?s an out of speck pin. IIRC, a couple had to be staked. I think I read of one that was loctited to the frame, not sure if an update was given to see if it worked. [emoji17]

Appreciate the info.....I may just try to find my gauge and compare the old & new pins before I try to install the new pin, if for no other reason just to know. When referring to ?right side?, do you mean the side w/o the controls? I?m thinking the side of the frame with the controls where the retaining washer is behind the decocker lever is the side that would be the problem.....then again maybe both holes are out of spec ::) .......hopefully it?s just the sear cage pin ???
-
Here are the specs of an extra sear pin i have handy. Length: 0.982 and 0.118 dia. on both ends. Strange, i was under the impression that these were tapered towards one end.
If a replacement sear pin dose not solve the issue. Schmeky posted a while back about a fix that entailed swaging the right side frame hole using a gauge pin.

Yes, I mean the Right side is the side without the controls. [emoji6] What happened in some of the threads I read was the pin was driven out L to R, causing the hole to widen, since it?s supposed to go out R to L. (Out the control/retaining ring side)
A couple other threads I read, the pin was ?punched? out R to L, but the punch was either a hair too big, or was driven deep enough to hit the taper on the punch, causing the hole to widen.

Swagging?......what?s that?

Totally get what your saying.....but after 150 rounds? Seems like it would have shown up long before that
many rounds, and like I said the pin starts to move out now just dry firing a few times....it will be interesting to see how this shakes out.....
-
And I see what you?re saying. It?s possible that it took the 150 to finish opening up the hole. I hope you are able to get it figured out. As Tok said, maybe a call to CGW will help.

I may be missing something, how could this side be the problem?
-
^^I figure he was thinking that the fixing insert might fall out if the pin moved.
Swaging as in forming the hole by moving material in towards the center thereby decreasing the size of the hole so that the pin can not walk out.
From what I gather you drive a steel pin into the side of the frame at the sear cage pin hole. I have not had the opportunity to attempt this process, my sear pins have stayed put. No fun. ;D
-
Oddly enough one of the possible ?fixes?, using some loctite to hold the pin in place, I am trying. Have dry-fired a hundred times, with a snap cap in the chamber and it hasn?t budged. Will take it to the range in the next few days and see how it holds up.....will attempt a couple hundred rounds :) I? m pretty sure it will hold fine, it just keeps the cage in place, there isn?t a tremendous amount of force working on the pin.....even normally it?s only the tension between the pin & frame through the hole in the frame keeping it in place, the loctite will most likely even be stronger.....we?ll see ::)

Really like what you've done. Just goes to show ya what a few upgrades can do for an average, ordinary P-01.
-
Looks great.
-
Looks great! I have a stock P-01 that I want to make my EDC, but I need a few upgrades like the ones you list. Is the overall width of that rear sight wider than the width of the pistol? I like the i-dot setup, but am willing to sacrifice that for a more streamlined setup, especially since I do fine with 3 dot setups.

The site width is the same as the width of the widest part of the dovetail cutout on the slide, so essentially much thinner than the width of the slide itself...the 4th picture in the original post is representative of the sights width compared to the slides width. Also thanks for the compliment on the P01.....really like the P01 a lot! Though I haven't mentioned it in a prior post, its very accurate and smooth shooting.....just had/have to work out some kinks it had from the factory :) Its a keeper for sure!

Nice P01. That polish job looks great. Almost makes me want to take mine back apart and get it shinier...almost lol.

Lookin' good.

On the ultra lite kit what main spring wight are you using, #13 or #11 and if using #11 any lite strikes , I installed the ultra kit and was using #11 main spring and tried several different ammo and had no problems but single action was very lite to carry as my personal sidearm, I changed to the #13. Thanks.

Back in the day I used to put a SRT (short reset trigger) in my CZ's.......but, it was just too lite and easy to pull for carry. So the last several CZ's I've gone with a RRK (reach reduction kit) and an Ultra Lite Kit. In the Ultra Lite I use the #11.5 mainspring, never had an issue with lite strikes on any ammo. The RRK allows for "some" take-up on each trigger pull whether SA or DA, just more to my preference safety-wise, while still giving the feel of a truly custom and smooth trigger pull. Hopefully this answers your question, not sure if you just installed the Ultra Lite by itself or with say and SRT or (fill in the blank)....... ;)
-
Thanks for the reply, I've had my P01 for 2yrs and after about 2000 rounds or so I installed the ultra lite kit and made a improvement in trigger pull with the 11.5 HS, really had no problems with lite strikes, I using 13.5 now and thinking about changing back. I will be doing some upgrades soon. Anyway your P01 looks great.

Very nice and very similar to the way I have my P-01 set up. It's proven to be a very accurate pistol as well. The 10X bushing from CGW has no doubt helped. I tried the gold ring front sight from CZC and unfortunately the gold disappeared when it came in contact with solvent. Went with their regular tritium front sight.
