I know you cant ? answer ? this for me.. but you can perhaps lend your experience
Got into firearms just a couple years ago.. started with a few revolvers.. ( love SA revolvers & my S&W 14-4 )
Then got a Ruger MarkIV and a Buckmark... and most recently joined the bullseye league- VERY fun!!
I enjoy shooting at our indoor range, of course basically the drill is 25? to 50? at paper targets trying to be as accurate as possible... looking forward to shooting some steel targets outdoors when the weather cooperates
Then picked up an SP-01 .. and am enamored with CZ?s incredibly accurate .. and great in the hand. for me... no comparison to all the Glocks and Sigs that MOST people at the range love ( .. not saying anything against Glocks/Sigs ! )
then I decided to go join the CCW discipline.. got a Shield 2.0 9mm.. fits very easily IWB and I can shoot it quite well
then I got a Rami thinking Id jettison the Shield.. but: decided the Shield was easier to carry, the Rami was expensive and I dont need numerous CCW.. when I held it I preferred the grip w the 14 round mag so.. I recently sold it...
... now figuring that cash can be put to good use Cajunizing my SP-01 and making it a fun race gun
Might look into USPSA...
enter the P-01... just seems like a great, solid accurate gun and for some reason I really want one, but cant quite figure how it fits.. as its size orients it for an accurate solid CARRY gun...
so how do YOU utilize your P-01... range toy, target shooter, primarily Carry ( IWB or OWB ? )
??
(p.s.) what adds pressure is- I know they?re hard to find... and my LGS just got two in stock Wed. .. and they note they usually sell in a couple days.. in fact they could be gone already ...
-
Go for it. I want one really bad.

You already know that I have two P-01s, one standard trigger and one Omega. I love them both. I mainly shoot them at the range (shot the Omega yesterday), but they are outstanding carry guns, if you are so inclined. Amazingly accurate and comfortable to shoot. The Rami has never appealed to me, but the P-01s and the PCR are ideal (yes, I love the full size CZs too). Get what you want, before it's gone!
-
Don't have a P-01 yet, but I daily carry a P-06 or my Pcr. My P-06 serves night stand duty also. I think you'd have no regrets after your purchase. Both my CZ compacts are dead nuts accurate and a joy to shoot.
-
I'm considering getting a P01 also. I also have a shield for CCW. The 2 CZ pistols I do own are the SP01 and 97B and they are my favorite auto loaders that I have owned. I'm in a similar situation where I don't really have a nich place for the P01, but I really like the feel and will probably buy one just because I like the gun and will find a use, even if its just a range toy.
-
Well I took the plunge.. as Califgunner said - don?t really have a niche for it but now Ill out if has a place in my lineup.. range / target toy , or perhaps OWB carry when appropriate
The LGS got two on Wed pm.. didnt hit their shelves til Thurs, and I got the last one today so I knew the clock was ticking..
Tnx for enabling me.. (LOL)
On my phone so can?t quite see how to upload pic.. will do that when I get to my computer

By all means get the PO1, I have 2 and no I do not wish to sell one. Both have the CGW PRO kits and 10X bushings with all the work on them done by myself. They are in company with my PCR PRO kit that I purchased from CGW 3 years ago. The PCR also has the 10X bushing. I purchased both PO1s from Tombstone Tactical by watching their incoming new firearms list several times a day. I have a YouTube video under Doc Grit showing the first range visit for my first PO1.

The usual P01 you see is the model with the decocking lever on the left side of the frame. I've never held one, can't tell you how easy/not easy it may be to operate the lever.
The newer, and not so common P01 is the Omega model. It comes set up with ambidextrous decocking levers that angle forward, just like ambidextrous thumb safeties. In the box with the new Omega should be a set of ambidextrous thumb safeties for cocked and locked carry - or, as some people do, safeties so they can carry it at half cock or hammer all the way down on the back of the slide.
The frames on both models are aluminum with grooves in the front/back of the grip. That is what makes the difference for me. I have a nice CZ75 Compact I used to carry. Then I got an Urban Gray P01 (the first model of the Omega P01's - set up with a threaded barrel/barrel protector and suppressor height night sights, in case you want to buy a suppressor, or just like the look. I didn't carry the UG P01 long but there is just something about the way the grip feels/fits in my hand. I immediately get a feeling that this one is "right" for my hand. I eventually bought a black P01 Omega and started carrying it concealed and open carry (only around my house/property). I still carry the P01 Omega (black) on road trips so my wife's CZ Compact can use the same magazines as the pistol I carry..
There is a difference in weight between the CZ75 Compact (steel frame) and the CZ P01 (aluminum frame) but I don't believe I really notice it. The P01 also has the light/laser rail and the CZ75 Compact doesn't (unless you come across one of the CZ's marked CZ75 Compact that has a steel railed frame like a P01 (no grooves in the front/back of the grip frame though.)
I bought a couple of the little PL Mini's to put on my P01 Omegas so I'd have the same lights on both pistols.
My UG P01 is my basket pistol. The basket by my recliner in the living room. When the doorbell rings at night, or we hear a loud noise somewhere inside/outside the house I grab the UG P01 and go take a look.
You can get 16 round magazines for the CZ Compacts. It's a 16 round magazine (like the full sized CZ75 uses) with a floorplate on it that fills in the gap between the bottom of the longer magazine and the frame (some people object to that look.) That gives you 16+1 in a compact carry pistol for a small amount of extra length under the frame.
Urban Gray with the 16 round magazine and black with the 14 round magazine, for comparison.

I have a P01 Omega and a PCR. Both have been to the Cajun spa. I?ve used them both successfully in IDPA and depending on my dress and the weather, carry them.
I find they are the best balance between size, ergos, caliber, weight, and capacity.
If I could have only 1 gun (God forbid) it would likely be one of these two. Other carry guns compromise too much to be an all around capable gun IMO.

I would say get this :

Question. Is the trigger reach the same in DA on the PCR and the Omega?

Yes.
My EDC now but maybe not for long. Mine is going back into the safe most likely.

This is insane.

You know that saying about a fool and his money? I think that Gunbroker sale was a prime example of it... 8)

3K wow... crazy. I'm kicking myself for not buying 4 of the polished stainless that were available, I kept looking at them for about 3 days, almost ready to buy more. I knew I should have. And then boom.. gone. I only got one. They are fantastic looking.
-
Hiya, think everyone should have at least one PO-1, so I'd say yes you should.I've never bought or sold off gun broker. No bites on trying to sell my Evo,Bren,97b,or M4 here, so any info on if I can advertise them on their site? Good or not so good stories to tell. Be well.

NOW it is 100% Cajunized with a Shadow 2 ext. mag release.

Apologies for not responding sooner. The two guns do have different triggers, I prefer the omega trigger shape. My PCR has CGWs 85 series trigger vs the stock serrated PCR trigger. That said, the trigger reach is about the same for me, not much discernable difference for me.
See post 4 in link below for my PCR and P01 Omega

Thanks for that info. Local CZ dealer has the P01 Omega but not the PCR. Really liked the feel of the P01 but not the looks so much. Hoping to see if PCR looks as good as in pics and I can make a side by side comparison. The 75 Compact gonna have to go as it just doesn?t fit my hand comfortably.

I just purchased a 2019 production run P01 Omega. The trigger reach is shorter than that of a (non-Omega) P01. While not straight, the Omega trigger is definitely less curved than the "normal" P01.
If you look on CZ's website, the regular P01 (https://cz-usa.com/product/cz-p-01-9mm-black-alloy-14-rd-mags/) and PCR (https://cz-usa.com/product/cz-75-d-pcr-compact-black-alloy-9mm-14-rd-mags/) definitely have a more forward-curved trigger than the Omega (https://cz-usa.com/product/cz-p-01-%CF%89-convertible-omega/) has.
I have short fingers and had issues getting a good trigger placement in DA with the normal P01.
Had no such issues with the Omega, which played a large part in my purchase decision.

Right now, Grabagun has a black 14rd P-01 in stock: https://grabagun.com/cz-75-d-comp-9mm-3-8-blk-dl-2-14rd.html

I strongly considered the P-01 but went with a PCR (stock sights and dust cover). I think they're both great pistols. I thought I'd throw a question for the faithful out there as it relates to the thread.
...the "NATO" certification? Am I correct in that the P-01 (not Omega) is the CZ that has met the criteria? Is it all or some P-01s that have a NATO number? Is there any difference? Forgive me if this has been covered, I didn't see it directly addressed anywhere.
-
I picked up a P-01 last week.
What a sweetheart of a pistola!
And of course, last night I ordered a bunch of Cajun stuff for it and my Tactical.....
It's a sickness I tell ya!
-
Duner,
Congrats on the pickup! You?re going to love that pistol.
Mark,
I?m not sure on the Omegas, but my non-omega P01 carries NATO certification

My first handgun purchase was a brand new P-01 in 2011 and I have used it as my main carry / nightstand gun since then. I carry it IWB at 3:30 with a flush fit mag and have thin aluminum grips on it.
If you like CZs, you should get one or a PCR. They're a couple of the best compact carry guns ever made in my opinion.
