What are the benefits of purchasing a 75 SP-01 and upgrading it to a shadow 1 vs just buying a Shadow 2 ? I can get the 75 SP-01 for 600 then add 300 plus in parts. The Shadow 2 is around 1100 my area.

The shadow guns are made with competition in mind, you can never make a sp01 into a sp-01 shadow and run it in uspsa production.
Really what your paying for in a sp-01 shadow is the ability to shoot in production without a firing pin block and that's it.
The shadow 2 is a different animal were it was designed from the ground up just for competition and there are other features like the higher beaver tail/undercuts, increased length and weight, reduced muzzle raise, extended mag release. So with the shadow 2 your paying for more than just not having a firing pin block.

Very good explanation,
If you aren't a serious competitor your budget is $1100 and you want to buy 200 worth of ammo instead of having the awesome S2 and no bullets the SP-01 is a great gun that shoots awesome and really is one of the best handguns out there. If you want to shoot production and do very little to your gun but open the box and start shooting then the S2 is the one to choose.
I do know a bunch of people who compete with an SP-01 and do very well. It's not the gun that makes the shooter...?.

I think you CAN customize an SP-01 to ?basically? the level of a Shadow 2 but it still just won?t quite BE a Shadow 2!
Yes I am captain obvious lol.
