Anyone have experience with Bear Creek Bullets? I met a fellow shooter at the gun range who was shooting them. He spoke highly of them (he loads them in 9mm, .40, and 45ACP), but I don't see much info on them on the web. I have been shooting PD 124 JHPs with great success, but want to try something different.

I loaded alot of them in .45 acp and 9mm.Unfortunately the 9mm are if I remember are .356 and the configuration of the bullet only worked in my old 6909 and the wifes LC9,it jambed up everything else.

PD 124's are very good, very accurate shooting bullets. I would stick with what I know unless you are just looking to save a few bucks while plinking.
I have tried many other brands but I will say PD JHP 124 are my favorite and my go to bullets.
If you are looking to save money there are many coated rounds that are inexpensive and that load nicely.
I have experience with a few and have a favorite that is around 20 bucks per 1000 cheaper but is not HP and not jacketed they are coated cast bullet. Weirdly colored but shoot pretty consistently accurate. Good luck

I should have been more specific in my original post...
I intend to stick with PD 124 JHP for my 9mm guns; a box of 2,000 was actually just delivered today - I've reloaded 6K of them since last year and shot them through an SP01, TSO, TS and Shadow 2.
I recently purchased a .40S&W STI DVC Limited (luck was on my side as finding these from a private seller in California is difficult) and I'm in the hunt for potential bullets, hence my post. I would use the Bear Creek bullets for this new guns. From a bit of reading on the web, it seems other folks also had issues with bullet diameters being 0.402"-0.4025" instead of the advertised 0.401", which is consistent with redhawkone's experience.
I'm not going to lie, just to compare, for 180grain FP, 2,000 bullets for $151 sounds a lot better than $238 (PD).

Cool, I have good luck with bayou Bullets for that type of loading 2500 are 230 buck in 180g .40 S&W
that's like 500 free from what PD is at.
There are many other brands that are comparable and probably equal in quality.
The guys at Bayou have been great guys to deal with for me and they answer my calls or emails personally if I have questions.

In 40 cal, 155gr to 165gr seems to be the best weights for accuracy.
Rocky Mountain currently has some great prices on pulls and in-house.

I just bought 500 of them this morning. I have already loaded and shot five hundred 45acp 200gr SWC through my 1911 with no problems and they left my barrel nice and clean. My local gun store caries them here in El Cerritto, CA for $45, a lot of people around here swear by them. I just received a micrometer in the mail and I will measure the diameter once I figure out how it works.

if they're lead bullets, coated or bare, .001 increase in diameter won't hurt anything.
Too small is a definite problem with lead.

I just wanted to update this thread. I purchased a couple thousand 200g 0.401" directly from Bear Creek to try and experiment with a newly acquired STI DVC Limited. In short, the bullets were very consistent in weight (201g-203.4g) on a A&D scale with consistent bullet length and diameter.
My load workup with these netted great groups with 4.1g of N320 at 1.18" OAL. This load produced a power factor of 172 with an SD of less than 10 - plenty good enough for me. No smoke that I can tell, barrel remains clean and loaded rounds are very consistent.
No idea why, but the best price I've found for these bullets and many other Bear Creek Bullets have been through an online retailer out of state that is dropped shipped from the Bear Creek?! LPL bullets dot com sells them for about 20% less (shipped price) than directly from Bear Creek; you do need to buy at least 2000 to get the best shipped price.
In summary, I would highly recommend these bullets. In fact, although I've been completely satisfied with the Precision Delta 124 JHPs on my TSO, when I run out I'm going to give Bear Creek 9mm bullets a try.
