Title: Seventh CZ family member arrived today!!
Post by: Scoose on April 02, 2019, 08:54:18 PM
Already have some ideas for updates that I?m considering. But before all of that happens.....I have a date with this new to me honey and a few hundred rounds at the range.

I believe she?s a first gen with a serial number of VZ044xx and it does have a tabbed carrier already. She was pretty nasty when I got her...it should be illegal to sell a dirty weapon LOL!! The mags were still loaded with cosmoline inside....have I ever mentioned that I HATE cosmoline!?!?

She did come with 2 surplus mags, cleaning kit, bayonet and sling.

Any more words of wisdom now that we know a little more about the weapon?? I got some great advice in the other thread already!!

Congrats on the new arrival -- FWIW, I haven't found that new mags are actually cosmoline, just grease.  These mags are aluminum so scalding hot water, dish soap, and a bottle brush, are fairly good at cleaning.  I'd recommend dumping down the toilet, not tub drain though. And rinse again w/ scalding water.  For steel actual cosmo mags, I use a light oil like wd40 or rem-oil after drying but not essential on these aluminum mags so long as you let them dry.

Again, congrats on the acquisition.

Ya it wasn?t cosmoline but they did come clean with some hoppes and some towels.

Regardless, the previous owner shot em all bunked up like that. I guess I?m too anal about cleaning but daggum!!!
