I am teacher and have supported our local gun rights advocacy groups for several years now hoping that the proposed legislation regarding concealed carry in schools will someday be passed into law by our state government.
After yesterday?s tragic events at UNCC in my home state, once again teachers like myself look to the legislators in hopes that they will see the very real need to allow educators to arm themselves on campus and empower us to protect ourselves and the students we serve.
Any teachers out there who have an opinion they?d like to share on this?

Hiya Jiva and thx for the thread. Hope you get what you need from legislators to keep you and your students safe. From my seat, looks like education and health services continue their cuts, while voting to buy more guns, tanks and bombs. Don't count on legislators being overly invested in you or the students if their actions speak louder than their words. Be well.

I'm not a teacher and this is not even advice maybe Just something to dwell on. Years before they passed a concealed handgun law in Ohio there were many times in my job and other normal travels about town where I had to go places that were not the safest and I felt the need to be armed. I did so quietly and discreetly.

Unless your state's legislature and executive are already receptive to the idea, the labors of Hercules are insignificant compared to the work you'll need to do to achieve your goal of concealed carry in schools. Then again I never expected the Soviet Union's demise (in my lifetime) either, so best of luck.
