When I say first model, I'm talking about the model Larry Vickers is talking about in the video above. Does anyone know how many of these first models were made before they were made into the Pre-B?

The model you are referring too is commonly called a ?short rail?. Short Rail?s were made from 1975-1980, and there is not a good resource to my knowledge on production numbers however they are very low in comparison to the following generation (short rails are also a pre b) regardless of the production numbers, FAR fewer actually made it to the states due to the commie block during the Cold War. They are scarce for sure and the build quality is excellent as these were manufactured much differently than they next gen once military contracts started. Swiss were the first to request the design change in the early 80?s. Here?s a pic of my 78, took me 4 years of looking to get one in my hands. Thank you very much for the info above, ejb1975. After this model, did the pre-B model come out in 1980?

There were some of the non short rail pre b?s n late 80 I believe. There were some issues with the steel CZ was getting from Spain that they had issues with at the beginning of that generation so I wouldn?t go looking for anything 80-81. There is not a ton of documentation on that so it?s really here-say but good enough for me to stay away. Those models are pretty much the same until the transitional-period started in 92

WOW! Those are beautiful! Have you fired any or all of them? How do they handle? I'd sure like to get one and use them too. :)

Thanks gunbuster! All fired and in the light duty roster (shoot 1- 2 times a year)...each with very smooth actions.
