Title: Remington Military/Law enforcement ammo the same as other Remington Ammo?
Post by: Metal Wonder Nine Guy on June 11, 2019, 01:47:47 PM
https://www.sgammo.com/product/remington-ammo-sale/50-round-box-9mm-luger-115-grain-fmj-remington-brown-box-ammo-b9mm3

So I keep seeing this ammo at stores and gun shows recently. The headstamp looks the same as UMC ammo I've fired in the past. Is this ammo just repackaged UMC or Green and White box 9mm? Or is this Brown box a totally different load than those other 2 boxes?

I doesn't seem to be full-fledged military ammo because I don't see a crimp on the primer. It may have some light green sealer on the primer, it's hard to tell.

The label on the box says "Military/ Law Enforcement Training Ammunition". I don't know, but since there's no primer crimp, no nickle plated cases, and only 115gr.... I believe "training" is the operative word. Meaning it's ammo you can buy inexpensively and use to do your practice and qualification shooting.

IOW, it's basic grade ammo, right down to the plain brown "no frills" wrapping.

It says training, so probably is just loaded hotter than standard UMC and possibly (but less likely than hotter load) a higher degree of quality control vs standard UMC.

Personally, I don't care for Remington ammo.

But, you could send me the brass when you finish.  O0

I don't know if it's the same as other Remington ammo or not, but my son and I have shot a bunch of it and never had a problem.

Paul Harrell proves me wrong.  UMC is hotter and more accurate!

I don't buy what I don't like, so no Rem brass to be had...

To add my 2 cents.
I have run a few hundred rounds of this brown box stuff thru My CS 75 SP01 tactical and had absolutely no problems with it.
I have also taken note that the empty casings appear to be very clean.  And, can't beat the price.  On sale I can buy a box of 50 for about $9.99.  Good price for punching a hole in the paper.

We need to be very careful here because Remington is a huge company, and as such they offer items for sale at many, many different pricing levels. "Remington UMC" is usually their bottom tier ammo, while "Remington" is their top level, with many more in between.

So just because the "R" word is on the box is no indication of its quality.
