Title: P-10s Magazine Extensions
Post by: bucknellde on July 30, 2019, 03:51:39 PM
I recently purchased a P-10s, and was wondering if any other members have used any base pad extensions for their P-10s. Thank you in advance for your advice.

Perhaps I am using the wrong terminology. Have any P-10s owners used a magazine base extension? And if so, what brand?
Thank you in advance for your help.

You’ve got the right terminology.  It all really depends on how many additional rounds you want the extension to add to your stock 12-rounders.

There’s the +2 extension that CZ makes and some of the ‘tactical’ models come with from the factory.

CZ Custom offers a few options

Hyve Technologies offers a +3

Shield Arms makes a +5

Springer Precision offers some that are competition oriented and sized to meet USPSA rules

Do a google search, if one catches your eye ask here about it, good chance somebody has one and can tell you about it.

I have the Shield Arms +5 and Springer Precision +4 for my P10C.  If I was to switch to a P10S for EDC, I’d probably carry it with the stock 12 rounder, but have a spare mag with some sort of extension on it for 14-17 rnds.

I haven’t picked up a P10S yet, but on my P10C I have

Thank you. The link provides great background on the Hyve and Shield Arms options. I wonder if the Greg Cote P-10C +2 extension base pad would also work?

What is your intended purpose with the extensions?  If you’re just trying to get a little more grip to get a full hand on the gun, then the +2 would probably work.  So will the +3 Hyve or +5 Shield Arms.

Granted, the longer you go the more it may print more if you intend for this to be a carry gun.  For carry purposes have you considered buying a P10C mag (15 rnd) or a P-09 mag (19 rnds) for use as your spare mag while carrying the P10S with the 12-rnd mag?

Good question. I have medium size hands and am interested in just a bit more grip room.

I just installed the UTG base pad. While it doesnt add any rounds it does make the grip perfect.

I also installed the UTG and the only drawback is the sharp edge.   I think it would dig into my side if carried.

I carry my P10s with the UTG magazine base plate and I don't have any issues with it digging into me even with an uncomfortable holster.

Good to know.  I haven’t tried carrying yet.  What holster are you using?

I have the Hyve +3 and I love them. I use those mags when training and have 2 regular mags when carrying.

Anyone get their pinky pinched between the mag and frame with any of these extensions?  That’s what happened with the G26 for me.  Tried several, my pinky always got pinched during firing.

I run the factory +2 on mine and am close to the 500 round mark.  About 1/2 of that has been with the +2 extensions in place.  I don’t recall ever feeling a pinch from the mag base plates.  I do get that on a Glock 30sf, but have not felt it on the P10S

Not exactly what you're looking for but as an FYI, the new P09 magazines do have P10 mag catch cut so another option is to carry a P09 mag as spare (19 rds.).

But be careful when inserting that P09 mag at slidelock.  You can over-insert and bend the ejector
