Title: 40 S&W Compact magazine?
Post by: RodE on September 01, 2019, 09:34:49 AM
The CZ 75 Compact I bought new From Bud's Gun Works a few months ago came with two (2) magazines marked 9MM with a capacity of 14 on one side.  No further markings.

At the same time I bought two (2) extra magazines from Buds. However they are marked 9 MM with a 15 round capacity on one side.  The opposite side show .40 with an 11 round capacity.  It also bears the CZ emblem (a simple pistol outline within two circles) on the front side of the magazine.

I am confused!  Can someone please explain the difference?

The 14 round mags were standard with compacts until recently.

CZ has begun shipping some mags that are dual 9mm / .40 with capacities of 15 / 11, respectively.

Mecgar (who makes mags for CZ) also offer their own magazines for the compact in the new dual caliber 15 / 11 capacity.  The baseplates appear to be slightly different too, from pictures -- I haven't had access to the newer mags yet, so no direct experience.

You're welcome!

In the interests of completeness, here are some the different options as listed at greg cote llc (not including many more options - just as discussed here):

And the description for the newer 15 / 11 round magazines by Greg Cote is at: http://gregcotellc.com/cart/cz-factory-mecgar-actmag-c-173/cz-75-compact-cz-pcr-cz-p01-cz-p06-15-rd-9mm-mgczcomp15afc-p-2059.html

EDIT to add: I suspect that new 75 Compacts will continue to be shipped with the 14-round mags until CZ exhausts its inventory of those; the newer 15 / 11 rounds will begin appearing with new 75 Compacts as time marches on.
