I picked up a S&W model 63 right here on the forum from Mtb1083 and it is a nice little plinker. The same week, a Dan Wesson model 22 showed up on texasguntrader.com in Austin. I had to go to Austin that Thursday on business and I'd been looking for one of these locally for some time, so I ended up getting two on the same week. The S&W is my first S&W revolver and the Dan Wesson is a superb, heavy target pistol. I love shooting .22. It's great fun, you can shoot for hours at low cost, and it's a great way to introduce kids to shooting sports. I have a feeling there will be more in the safe over time.

Agreed. Everyone should have a .22 revolver in the collection!
Here's mine:

The Ruger SP101 or GP100 is on my list as a potential acquisition as well. I have a Taurus 922 22LR/22Mag convertible too, but it doesn't hold a candle to the two I posted above as far as quality. It shoots OK & holds 9 rounds, but the shooting experience is just different.

You really need a long barreled tack driver in your collection O0

The Dan Wesson can take 8" & 10" barrel assemblies.

But you have to find them first O0

Beau-ti-ful ! Now I've got the urge to find a s&w.

They are nice. This one was made in 1981, the last year of the pinned barrels, I believe. Plus, it doesn't have the internal lock.

Very nice. My first gun ever was a Colt Buntline Convertible 22lr/22mag that my uncle gave me when I was 12. Been shooting her for over 30 years.

The DW .22 revolvers are great for DA plinking practice.

Awesome trio. I have a Ruger Single Six Convertible made in 1984 that I'm giving to my grandson for his birthday. His dad (who will keep it locked up, of course) might be more giddy about it than I am, LOL!

My first .22 handgun was a Ruger Single Six 5&1/2" barreled 6 shooter. Good enough at the time. Like the OP stated, I could take a couple boxes of .22 ammo out and seemingly shoot for a couple hours.
Then I shot an old used Ruger Mk1 5.5" bull barrel my brother bought and that was the .22 for me. Traded mine Single Six in on one and never looked back. But, a couple boxes of .22 ammo would be gone before I knew where it went.
I still have the Mk1 5.5" but haven't shot it in over 30 years.
Later I ended up with a Ruger Single Six with the 9.5" (??) barrel and an old Colt Frontier Scout. I traded the long barreled Ruger in on a compound bow (which I still have, one of those big old Bear Kodiak Magnums) and I gave the Colt to my oldest son (it belonged to his mom's dad). I doubt he'll ever shoot it - but he sure wanted it.
The only .22 handgun I've shot in years is that M&P .22 I bought as a "trainer" for the M&P 9MM and .357 SIG full sized pistols I used to carry/shoot. I've only put two rounds through it. Served the needs at that time.
If I were really hung up on the idea of an accurate .22 revolver these days I think I'd be looking at one of the S&W K frame 6" models. I had a buddy in college with the same size revolver in .38 special (M14) and that is, to this day, the most accurate revolver I've ever shot. An awesome shooting handgun.

For my son's 21st birthday, I gave him my 6" K-22 that was passed down to me from my dad. I figured that carrying on the tradition was important and that I'd pick up another one soon. That was 9 1/2 years ago and I still don't have a replacement for it! I've picked up a High Standard and a Ruger during that time, but nothing compares to a K frame Smith.

I took my 72 year old S&W K-22 6" revolver to the range Monday and had a blast it's a joy to shoot.
