I currently have a full-sized 75BD and am looking to get one of the 75 compacts for carrying (PCR or P-01). I'm not sure if I can get my hands on a compact before I buy, though. How similar are the grip and overall feel of the 75BD vs. the PCR & P-01? I realize the weight will be different, but are the grips, handle and trigger pull similar? I'm trying to determine if liking the way the 75BD feels in my hand (which I do) is a good indicator that I will also like the PCR/P-01. Or are the differences significant enough that I should definitely hold one of the compacts before buying?
Thanks for any advice!

The two pistols feel very similar to me. There are minor differences: they have differently shaped reliefs for trigger fingers, differently shaped magazine release buttons, slightly different beavertails, and of course the PCR has a slightly shorter grip (which shouldn't matter unless your hands are huge). CZ-75D Compact PCR has vertical grooves on the front and back straps, while those on the CZ-75BD are smooth, so the PCR is a little easier to grip without adding grip tape.
As a result of the weight difference (7.8 ounces) the perceived recoil impulse is slightly greater in the PCR. My PCR seems to have a stiffer recoil spring than my CZ-75BD, perhaps because its slide travel is shorter, so it's slide is a little harder to operate. The trigger on the CZ-75BD is smooth stainless steel, while CZ-75D Compact PCR's trigger is matte stainless steel with small vertical serrations on its front face.
To answer your main question, if the CZ-75BD feels good to you, I think the CZ-75D Compact PCR will too. It's very subjective, but I think the PCR actually balances a little better in my hand than the CZ-75BD. (I like them both a lot).

I have the 75bd and the pcr. To me they are very similar. The only thing I see people complain about on the pcr is the trigger shape but it can be swapped out. If you find you dont like something about the pcr check out CGW or CZC for aftermarket parts.

Thanks for the responses. That's what I was hoping was the case. Open to more opinions if anyone else wants to chime in.

I'll be honest, I'm new to owning a CZ PCR. I have seen them and read about them for years, had lots of people recommending the compact series for a long time but I couldn't be pulled away from my other favorites of twenty plus years to try them.
Recently I was in a LGS and the owners son showed me a 75 B Compact and as soon as I held it I wished I had gotten one years ago. I really started looking at the weight and decided the PCR was closer to what I am used to, bonus was I liked how it looked. I ordered one without even being able to handle it first, going of ergos of the 75 B and spec sheets.
I couldn't be happier, actually pretty excited about it, and it isn't just the "new". Weight is just right for carry, love the features, how it fits my large hand, shoots fantastic, accuracy is really good. I bought it for carry and HD, not a range gun. Should fit that nicely.
I noticed was the trigger bit the tip of my finger every once in a while, and was good but a little gritty, so I ordered a few Cajun parts. I like everything else about it. Really I hate to mention that part because it wasn't that bad really, just knew it could be better
Love to hear which direction you go. .

Thanks, Boxer 9. I will try to remember to post back here once I pick something up. Leaning toward the PCR vs. the P-01 because I don't plan to use the rail, but I may end up getting whichever I can get for the best price. (Actually, long term I'll probably end up getting both just because that's how things seem to work out around here. ;))

I have no use for a rail on a carry gun, I carry a handheld light anyway. I like the looks of the P01 too though. If it was a dedicated HD gun maybe a different story. If it was a dedicated HD gun I'd probably get a full size. I liked the looks of the PCR better in the end, and will eventually get one.
So if you don't plan to use/carry with a light attached, get which appeals to you the most, get the other another time.
I found mine online at Buds, the PCR and P01 were almost same price and they had both in stock for like 580. I generally support my LGS but they wanted $780 for a P01 and $860 for a PCR, so I had a good laugh when I paid my FFL transfer there and he asked me why I bought online. :)

Also to note , even of you dont care for the rail on the p01 I seems to cone across alot more holsters for the p01 than the pcr.

The P01 has a series of grooves in the front and rear of the grip frame.
For me it changes the way the pistol feels in my hand. When I pick up a P01, vs. a CZ75 Compact, or a full sized CZ75 I immediately notice the difference in the feel. And I like it.
The weight difference between the steel and aluminum framed compacts doesn't matter to me. I don't notice it carrying or shooting them.
But the feel of those grooves in my hand, I notice that.

Thanks for all the responses, everyone. I ended up getting a PCR. I chose that over the P-01 only because it might be slightly easier to carry. But the truth is, if I really like it, I'll probably end up getting a P-01 at some point too. I'm hoping I can pick up the PCR this weekend. Also ordered a Vedder holster for it.

Congratulations.
I too plan to get a P01 eventually.

I'm torn between a pcr and hk p2000 right now, I love the looks of both of them but I need to shoot the pcr for final decision.

Duo... you will choose the PCR... once you get your hands on it and shoot it....... 8)

I picked up my PCR this morning and shot several magazines worth of ammo at the range. You guys were right. It felt like you would expect a smaller, lighter version of the 75BD to feel and I am very happy with it so far. Accuracy was great too. Not too fond of the rubber grips so I'll probably replace those shortly, but otherwise it's exactly what I hoped it would be.

Awesome, glad you like it! Now go start looking at Cajun gunworks, holsters, mags, sights, ....lol

Thanks! And yes, I am looking forward to customizing this one to make it my own. Already started a list... :)

I've held the pcr and was astonished on how light she was. I think regardless of being a hk fan boy as well I'm probably going to give my money first to the pcr!
