Anyone here have their slide milled for a RDS? If so, did you have it milled for a plate or direct attachment? If for a plate, whose/what plate did you use?
Finally who did the milling? Any recommendations graciously accepted!!
I am aware EGW and Springer have plates that get mounted in the dovetail.
Thanks

The dovetail mounts work OK, but slide milling is more solid and sits lower. Leupold makes a dovetail mount for CZ-75's (??dunno if 97 is same dovetail??) that fit DPpro or J-Point/Shield footprint and contour over the slide for a clean fit.
CZ Custom has milled my SP-01 slides for their multi-optic plate and they mount very solidly. If you're going to use a Trijicon RMR or Holosun their wide footprint requires a plate anyhow on a CZ 75/97 narrow slide upper surface; and the plate system gives you the option to switch optics in the future. CGW offers a plate system too and they also do excellent RDS milling.
My CZC milled SP-01 Tac with DPPro and BUIS:

Thanks Vinny. I have a SP-01 with a dovetail plate by EGW. Also have a CZ 75 Bull Shadow with the optic cut and plate by CZC.
I checked with Stuart at CZC and he said they currently do not mill the 97B slides but may do so after SHOT show.
I believe I saw on the CGW site where they do mill the 97B slide. True what you said about using the optic plates for freedom to change optics and also because the optic usually overhangs the slide.

pcar,
You're in the best of hands with CZC and CGW!
Good luck and please share your results. -Vinny

Wondering if you went ahead and had your 97 slide milled. I've got a 97 BD on its way and I'm wrestling with how best to red dot it. CGW milled my SP01 and installed an RMR plate for an SRO. They did a nice job and it's solid as a rock. The only downside is that I don't have BUIS with the set up. Frankly, that's not an issue for me with the SP01 as it's a range and comp toy. I contacted GCW yesterday about milling the 97. They can use their standard RMR plate but they do offer an option that uses a Trjicon mounting plate with a built in BUIS (made for 1911's I think) but it's $200 for the plate if bought from CGW and $177 or so elsewhere and not very aesthetically pleasing. Another option they recommend if BUIS are a must is to buy a DPP and rear sight attachment an dmill teh slide for that. Not a bad option if one wanted to buy a DPP (I have an SRO that I could use on the 97 so my focus lies on RMR mounts). I'd like BUIS on the 97 but I'm not hard over on the decision yet. I may just go with a dedicated RMR mount and lose the rear sight, just as I did on the SP01. Right before reading this thread I emailed CZC about their RDS plate service but it appears from reading here that that is not going to be available for the 97 which is too bad. That's my rambling way of asking if you've moved forward with milling the 97 and to let you know that CGW does have some options and that I was very pleased with the work they did for me (enough so that I sent them my PCR for a RDS - Venom - milling and some other work).
Cheers!

I'm going to put a red dot on my 97B. I have contacted CGW and asked about milling the frame for a frame mount like that on a TSO. Its doable. I have a TSO and love it, so I may go that route. Anyone contacted Primary Machine and asked if they will mill a 97?

That's a creative solution! I just went with a Springer Precision dovetail mount for now. Have you also asked the CZ Custom folks?
