Had this in the CZ75 Fullsize section but as the thread title states it really snowballed into a Gunsmithing project as time went on so thought I would move this gun to a more appropriate section as I seem to continue to do things to it.... :)
CZC Trijicon Sights...front w/Gold Ring, rear Short Tactical
English Walnut Retro Grips
Cool Hand grip screws
Modified to a full length stainless guide rod
Rounded trigger guard to match original classic profile
CGW Reach Reduction Kit (RRK) w/Black Nitride Trigger
CGW 10X Barrel Bushing, Black finish
CGW Ultra Lite Kit
CGW Reduced Power Trigger Return Spring
CGW Floating Trigger Pin
Wolff #13 recoil spring
Polished Internals
Before modifying trigger guard.....and a close-up of what the serrations looked like prior to the mod......

After modifying trigger guard....in a Stainless model this styling just doesn’t exist and for a few years I really wanted to do this modification for a one-off, something different look....finally took the time to do it, matching the existing trigger guard thickness for the proper look took some patience but it was worth the extra effort.

Trigger upgrade.....though much of the RRK and Ultra Lite mods are internal I do prefer the black trigger accent on the Stainless, along with the dark grips, dark sights, and dark 10x barrel bushing....just not so monochromatic as all stainless

Sights....really like the functionality and look of these sights, figure "8" sight picture.......gold over white during daytime, green over green in darkness

Grips and grips screws......Classic retro wood grips & rounded trigger guard blend really well with the overall more modern Stainless material of the gun....while the screws add just a bit of uniqueness to the look of the grips

Full length guide rod modification and 10x bushing upgrade......again mixing modern functional upgrades with the more overall Classic styling

I run into that on AR15's. Not the gorgeous part, the part of it costing more money/time than I originally thought it would.
I suppose, if we knew what it would cost before we started, we might not start so many projects.
-
This is just stunning!
Wow.
I would have thought, a bit more snowball, CZC ghost hammer modified to fit the narrower slide opening, and a CZ Combat trigger (SS), or maybe SAO only (I am SAO biased).
-
Restoring an old gun is the same as restoring anything like a car or a house just on a much smaller scale. Once you start you always spend more than you anticipated and you always find other things you decide must be changed/upgraded in the course of the project.
Fine looking gun.

That looks very nice! I wish I have the patience to do all that O0.
By the way, have you thought if recrowning it to make it flush with the slide like member Arko did with his gun when he installed the 10x bushing?
-
That is gorgeous.
Appreciate the comment.... :)

Problem being I’ve done enough projects to know the cost and still keep repeating the behavior.....the term “addiction” comes to mind.... ;D

Purposely stayed with the factory stainless hammer mainly to keep it the original look......the trigger, well this one is fully adjustable and the profile is the flattest, which I prefer......as far as SAO, main reason I stumbled onto CZ years ago was the DA/SA....just not me, though I get why folks do like that setUp

Re-crowning....something to think on. The factory barrel protruded noticeably with just the factory bushing, but the added thickness of the 10x bushing really blends all facets of the barrel end much better......thanks for the suggestion :)

What John said!

Love those grips and the round trigger guard. Nice job keeping the thickness consistent and getting the radius right on the edges. A lot of people miss that detail when they remove the serrations. Beautiful gun.

That is a bold maneuver. It turned out well. Thank you for the pics.

I’ve had that style grip on a few other CZ’s....they look the best on the Stainless and a Brown Rust-Blued (actually darker in person) I did a few years ago (pic below). The rounded guard on the Stainless looks a bit more classy than the duty style serrations, just my biased opinion :) ....thanks for the comments

Assuming your talking the trigger guard......kinda funny when I started it, I looked at it....took a deep breath and said to myself.....”Only got one shot at this make it good” ;D

I very much prefer the round guard over the serrated. I rounded a transitional a while back. I was debating whether or not to try it because they tend to have voids in that area. Then I made a mistake while de-plating it and caused some pitting there so the decision was made for me. A little work with the bench grinder/dremel and a lot with a file - slowly. I took quite a few breaks whenever I got nervous, so I can imagine the anxiety working on a stainless frame. The result is certainly worth it though.

I just realized that you changed trigger from black colored to SS, well that does look better to my eyes now.
Yes, SA/DA has a huge following.
Just cant admire this enough, great work!

Some of the pics were pre-Black nitride trigger......the “final” (and I use this term loosely) version does have the black trigger....shocking to some CZ fans out there I gather ;D Thanks for appreciating something a little different, and still recognizable as a CZ....hasn’t gone too far off the rails.....at least yet 8)

Nice job on the trigger guard. I had contemplated doing that on a polished. Never got around to it.

Thanks......not really anything more I feel the need/desire to do to it, a good friend of mine is trying to talk me out of it.....might probably happen some day, but not today ;)

Don't sell guns. There have been only a handful I have thought in hindsight that it was the right idea.
The rest are woeful regrets in my life. I even tracked one down 5 years after selling it only to be told by the newest owner that they love the gun and would only part with it for a significant amount of money.
It's like trying to win a girlfriend back.
It's just sad.

Thanks for sharing this. A real pleasure to see. I know the bible says “Thou shalt not covet” but I’m coveting now. Hard. [emoji51][emoji1303]

Nice job !
I did the trigger guard on a carbon steel 75 and did run into the void in the casting. I wonder if with the SS frame that is less of a concern? I know another member of this forum had replied to one of my posts re: that job that he had also run into the void, I think he had done more than one also. Anyway.....
Very nice, unique piece !

I've hit the void on both plain steel frames that I've done. Made me weary of trying it on the stainless.

Yeah I hear ya. It was probably you that posted in my thread about mine. I’m pretty sure you said yours was in the same place that mine was. That was my first TIG welding job on a handgun. Was a bit nerve racking but the end result was worth it. I wish CZ would make more handguns with the rounded trigger guard. My Cold War Commemorative has the rounded guard, I can’t think of any others that I own that do.

Thought this thread was gone and forgotten about ;D Was a really fun project overall.......thanks for the comments!
