Title: RRK Shadow SP-01 question
Post by: dbarn on January 03, 2020, 10:23:52 AM
Have recently installed a RRK in Shadow SP-01 and the reset is greatly improved. However I've had to bump up the hammer spring to 13lb from 11.5lb to get reliable ignition in DA even with factory Federal ammo. SA is fine. I've made no modifications just dropped everything in. Previously with the factory set up, I could use 11.5 with no issues.

It appears that with the new RRK disconnector, it causes a shorter DA hammer arc that does not allow for reliable ignition with the 11.5 hammer spring. Is there a modification that is needed to the disconnector to allow for a longer hammer arc in DA? Do I now also need to invest in a different hammer to get reliable ignition in DA to be able to use the 11.5 spring? Thanks.

PS I also have the extended FP and RP FP spring installed.

The DA breaks when the nose of the disco bottoms out on the shelf cut into the frame. So, first make absolute certain that the trigger bar spring is straight and in both grooves on the bottom of the trigger bar. The lack of correct upwards force on the trigger bar can cause issues. I would triple check that everything is in place and lined up correctly first. Also check the amount of space behind the trigger when the DA breaks.

If that doesn’t work, then to move the DA break further back you can take a TINY amount (like a few thousandths) off the nose of the disco and recheck. You will want to measure with calipers from the nose to the back of the disco and note that measurement, and use marker to ensure you don’t go too hard on it. If you go too far with the shaving on the nose you will have no DA break at all, and be very sad

It would probably be best to have CGW take a look at it
