Title: Getting the safety on my P07 to "make nice" with a CGW hammer.
Post by: TXscooterguy on February 08, 2020, 01:50:13 PM
I just picked up a P07 with the CGW Pro Upgrade Kit installed.  The previous owner had the decocker on it.  When I installed the safety it only functions on the first notch.  A search of the forum here explained that non-stock hammers require fitting of the safety to work with that hammer.  The problem is I couldn't find instructions on how to do that.  Can anyone here help out an old but first time CZ owner.  Thanks.

Never mind, the manual safety and the CGW Pro Upgrade Kit are friends now.  Thanks to all those that responded.

So, what did you do? So the parts make nice?

The manual safety shaft has a "step" in the middle and when the lever is lifted it rolls under the sear.  The CGW sear is a slightly different size.  I stoned the edge of that shaft in front of the "step" until it cleared the edge of the sear and rolled under it.  It took several "trial and error" attempts of stoning, installing, testing, disassembly and repeating until it worked.  It works just fine now.

I've not messed with an Omega yet (might not ever as mine are all under 4 lbs. easily on SA trigger pull).

On the CZ75's I've installed different hammers with original sear, different hammers with CGWs adjustable sear, safeties different than original, etc., etc.

A hammer with a nice crisp release usually has a shallow notch for the sear to sit in.  That moves the sear further up at the back when the hammer is cocked - and the front of the sear farther down.  That can make a safety made for a stock hammer too "tall" to fit under the sear most of the time.

I've had to stone that cam surface on the CZ75 left side safety shaft (did that once).  Since that first time I've just bought the CGW adjustable sear.  Not sure if anyone makes parts like that (adjustable sear) for the Omega series yet.

OP, the way you "fixed" your pistol is the only way I know to do it.  Glad you got it figured out.  Now you're ready to upgrade another Omega.
