I’ve never been a lever action guy, but have regretted getting rid of my last .45-70. I picked up a Silencerco Hybrid as a general jack of all trades type of can...always with the thought of running .45-70 suppressed.
I had hope that somebody would make a modern bolt action in .45-70. Marlin post Remington was not really that appealing to me. Henry always had the front loading, and the owner made statements that seemed like they would never produce something in a threaded black rifle type format.
Then they did.
My local dealer pulled this gem out of the back...knowing that I had a hybrid.
It came home.
I’m hoping to get some initial shots off tomorrow, but handling impressions are positive. With the suppressor, the balance point is just forward the receiver.

First rounds down range were very pleasant; even with full power .45-70; the rifle was a blast to shoot. I did not have any sort of optic on it, so did not do any accuracy type testing; just basic function checking with a few different loads. I tried Peters 405 gr SP, Hornady 325 FTX Leverevolution, and Fort Scott Munitions 300 gr solid copper. Everything cycled perfectly, and loaded fine; the website lists capacity at 4+1; I was able to load 5 rounds into the tube without issue with all types off ammo; almost a 6th, in fact. The low pressure round suppresses well; it was very mild on the ears, both shooting and at the 3 and 9 o'clock of the shooter.
I got an EGW picatinny base installed; I'm thinking a good, low power variable will live on this in the very near future.

Sweet! Keep us updated. I've been very impressed with my Henry Big Boy Steel - very smooth action, and just rock solid all around.

Very cool! I like it. I am wanting a lever gun in 30.30. A 336 most liley is what I will get.

That is so sweet. That is an acquisition after I get a larger safe.

Good looking set up you have there. Thank you for the post and the pic.

Got a Leupold 1.5-4x20 VX Freedom scope installed.
Got out today...here is 325 gr FTX Leverevolution at 100 yds.

I’m very satisfied with that group with a 4x scope.

I'm tempted to buy the 45-70 version and see if I can re-barrel to 357Maximum or maybe 38-55.
I have the 357 Mag version with a Leupold 2x installed, suppressed and shooting a heavy bullet subsonic load is a lot of fun. I've taken a large pile of raccoons with a 200gr soft cast gas check bullet loaded to 750fps. With a full charge 180gr load I've killed a couple of dozen feral hogs.
