Title: Standard 75 OEM safety lever on a RAMI
Post by: Pcherry1973 on March 15, 2020, 04:29:28 PM
I've always been uncomfortable with the amount of purchase I could get on the super thin stock safety lever that comes on the RAMI.

I ordered a standard SP-01 safety from CGW, got it installed yesterday. All I had to do was file down the top of the grip a mm, or so, to accommodate the new safety and it functions perfectly. Still plenty of clearance in my kydex holsters.

Just thought I would share with the group. Did the safety lever shaft or sear require fitting for the safety lever to function effectively?

I changed out the factory slide stop on my RAMI BD for a P-01 slide stop so that i could get better traction on it. I am a lefty so i need to work it with my index finger.

No fitment required to anything but the grips. That is what David at CGW told me and he was correct. Lift the sear spring, slide the safety lever through, depress the safety indent and it pops right in.

I did the same modification. I had to do a little fitting. The notch where the end of the spring sets was not quite wide enough. About 10-15 minutes with a jewelers file took care of it. I also use a standard slide 75 slide stop. Everything works as it should.

Interesting. I used the 29 - manual safety from CGW, which is the OEM for all 75s, compacts and 97b,( https://cajungunworks.com/product/29-manual-safety/).

I did try to put my  P-01 slide stop on the the RAMI, but I could not get it to fit flush.

The listing states "can be slightly modified to fit the RAMI." Maybe it is only required in some cases or they do the modification in house depending on what pistol you select in the drop down menu.

I read that too, so when I called to place the orde, I spoke with a gunsmith there, I believe it was David, specifically to ask that question because RAMI is not an option in that drop menu and he said that's because it requires modification to the grip and not the lever.

I see, that makes sense.

I also did the same mod to mine. Instead of cutting the grips I cut the lower side of the safety to fit above the grips. Luckily I have some experience fabricating metal so it was a fun project using the bench grinder and some small files. What a huge difference it makes though.
