Title: P-10S and P-09 slide deformation
Post by: atilla17 on March 29, 2020, 03:06:43 AM
Hello all. My P-10S, P-09 and SP-01 have the same type of deformation as seen here: https://imgur.com/a/qBOc1VR/

I have around 2k rounds through the P-10S, 1k rounds through the SP-01 and 500 rounds through the P-09 AFTER i noticed the deformations. I bought all three guns used so I thought perhaps it happened during their previous ownership or even at the factory. Is this normal? Does anyone have similar experience? I'm reasonably sure it's safe as I have been monitoring it and have thousands of rounds through each even with this deformation but any input is appreciated

If you're talking about the little arc shaped cut out on the left side of the slide down low there my P01 has that same cut in the metal.

I bet that is a factory cut to aid in ejection.  Glock shooters have been claiming erratic ejection for years.  Glock just started putting a relief cut in the same location you pictured on their pistols to aid in ejection.  My P10C has the same mark you have pictured and it is cleanly machined in the slide.  David

It's factory cut. Nothing wrong with it.

I agree with the other posts. Since the extractor is holding the other side of the case tight to the breech face, there needs to be a little extra space on the ejector side for the case head to pivot during ejection.

Agree with above- my P09 has it too

Notice, it too has the black nitride protective coating on it.  If it were a 'deformation' caused by use, it would show wear and would be silver in color like bare metal.
