Title: 4 inch .45 single stack metal framed D/A CZ
Post by: H1x71 on April 12, 2020, 11:51:13 AM
Just as the title says, who all would be interested in a metal framed 4" commander sized .45acp in double action? And have it made in both steel and aluminum frame. And it would be great if 1911 magazines could be used in it. Like a P01 but single stack 45. Do you think it could compete with the SIG P220?

I doubt we're going to see such a creature from CZ. Plenty of guns already out there in that size configuration. I'd just buy a P220 or an old S&W 3rd gen 457 or 4516 if I really wanted a .45 in that size.

Thank you for the reply,  I have already went down the road of the S&W 3rd generation pistol. Due to them being obsolete now parts are hard to find like extractor's and so on, by the way S&W did some changes on the 3rd gen's that were slight and not know to the public so now if you needed a replacement extractor for you 4516 you gamble with the prospect of it not fitting. And SIG  I love the 220 but used ones in good shape still are north of $600.00 dollars.  I am just day dreaming while on Easter lock down.

+1 This ^^^^^^^
The Venerable S&W 3rd Gen's soldier on with Springs from Wolff, S&W Mags from Midway and parts from Numrich etal.

Also....Wasn't/Isn't there an EAA Witness Steel Compact CZ Clone in that approximate size??

It's OK to dream.   ;)

I like the idea -- but I have no idea whether CZ would make such a gun in today's market.   For one thing, my guess is that 9mm outsells .45 by a large margin, so if there is to be a single stack DA/SA CZ -- and how elegant and thin it could be! -- it would probably be in 9mm.

Jeez, I'd pay full retail for one of those.

9mm does outsell .45 by a huge margin and even when prices were coming down .45 still stayed rather highly priced and now with the insanity going on it's off the chart. I just saw el cheapo Wolf .45 going for $250 for 500 rounds. No way I'd pay that. If I didn't load my own ammo I'd have completely abandoned .45 several years ago. Todays 9mm is just as good from a ballistic standpoint and guns in the same size range carry more than twice the round capacity of .45's. I like my 1911's but I'll stick with carrying my 9mm's.

I used to think I wanted a compact single-stack .45 ACP, but the Glock 36 I bought, after they were released around two decades ago, convinced me that I didn't really want that kind of gun.  I thought it would be a good deep concealment option for my G21.  Instead, that thing kicked like a mule, pinched my pinky with the magazine base pad, was sprung super tight, and wouldn't feed Federal Hydrashoks reliably.  I shipped it off to Glock once, and they did nothing for the reliability, so I had to choose less effective ammo.  I'd love to have a single-stack 9mm hammer-fired DA/SA CZ, but for now I'll get by with my single-stack DAO .380 Sig P290 for my deep concealment and pocket carry pistol.

Yeah good price but you get what you pay for. I load my own and cast my own .45 slugs so my cost is low. I personally wouldn't run steel cased ammo in any of my guns. The long term effects are not good and steel cased ammo does wear on the extractor even with the coated cases much more than brass casings do.

Shot about a hundred rounds of that last weekend no failures .The pistol is definitely a tack driver. I need to practice more but even at 15 yd I put all shots in an 8 inch circle.👍
