We had to travel some. Lockdown-itis. Beautiful 550 mi drive on Thursday, went to the range mid morning today, Friday. Had range all to myself, with very little wind and 55-65F temp, partly cloudy. Excellent shooting conditions.
First up was the P-10S with Eezox. I was hoping the slippery Eezox would allow the gun lock up to be more consistent. Just the opposite happened, group size grew. Probably because the much thicker Slide-Glide takes up some of the clearances. Maybe. After 30 rounds, put it aside and got out the P-10F. Shot 30 rounds on paper at 100 with it, good results, observed very significant holdover change due to the 6000 ft elevation and very low humidity compared to maybe 800 ft and fog in Central Texas. So, since I was having a good day with the P-10F at least, I decided to try the gong at 100 yards. First, 10 shots from the bench wrist rest to confirm the hold over and establish a base line for comparison to single hand unsupported later. I missed two shots of 10 (I think!!), which kind of ticked me off, but it is what it is.
So, before the wind picked up, I decided to go ahead and try single hand at 100 yards. But seated, since I didn't want to spend too much time re-aiming the video camera at the shooter position. I was able to get fair video of both the gong and of me trying to shoot the pistol. I missed the focus on the gun, but otherwise, its OK. To be honest, standing single hand would have been less impressive, due to more body motion compared to seated single hand. I'm very comfortable shooting single hand rather than two handed, but this was the first time I had tried shooting unsupported single hand while seated. It was different, to say the least.
I'll post a link to the gong only video in a few minutes. It will be this evening before I can finish the video of the paper targets. That video may only be of the P-10F, as the P-10S results were not good. For the first time. And it wasn't me.
More later.
