Title: Lower power, factory 9mm for a P38
Post by: Abe on June 02, 2020, 12:45:48 PM
Greetings,

I have a post-war alloy frame P-38 without the steel hex insert for the lugs to lock against.  I am interested in relatively lower powered factory 9mm to go plinking with so as to minimize the potential for damage.  I figure I would at most fire the P38 around 100-200 rounds a year at most, putting the rest of my effort into my CZs which I like to shoot w 124 gr S&B.

Surfing the ‘net I have read that Rem UMC and Win White Box are anemic.  Others?  Any feel for relative order of wimpyness?

Thanks.

Blazer brass is fairly low recoil.

Any "low recoil" 9mm round should do you.

S&B, Fiocchi, etc, are all hot, nearly NATO spec loads.

Most ammo should have velocity published somewhere, be it manufacturer's site or the box.

Thanks.

I hadn’t considered looking at the published MV or KE...
