Title: Dry Firing a PCR

I just picked up a PCR and I plan to dryfire with it.

I have a RAMI and sent it to CGW for some work including replacement of FPRP.  Per recommendations here, I dry fire it with snap caps and an o-ring.

I assume dry firing the PCR should be no different, right?  Exception would be the o-ring; the o-ring for the RAMI (#083?) is too big for PCR.  What’s a better size?

I also learned the hard way about dry firing: I chewed up a FPRP on a Sig P239 SAS by dry firing w/o snap caps and o-ring.

Do you have a cheap, foam earplug? Use that. I cut them in half and they were great.

I always use snap caps when dry firing. I haven't tried o-rings. If it can't be dry fired with those things than its too fragile for me to consider a duty piece or a range piece.

Snap cap or laser cartridge is enough.
I'm using CGW FPRP. Thousands of dry fire clicks. Recently I did full take down - no single harm on any part.

How many times did it take for the sig, ballpark?  Hundreds or thousands of dry fires?

When it failed it had about 3700 rounds thru it, and maybe another 1000 - 1200 dry firing.

I always dry fire my PCR with snap caps.  In fact, every gun I own that gets dry fired always has snap caps.  It’s not so much to protect the fire control group of the gun as it is to practice as close to live fire as possible without making unnecessary holes in the Sheetrock.  With our ammo shortage right now, I’m spending less time at the range and more time dry firing at home.
