Title: Shadow 2 Kadet - Wow!
Post by: ScoobyDoo on September 04, 2020, 10:17:04 PM
My Shadow 2 Kadet arrived yesterday.  I installed it on my Shadow 2 SA last night and took it to the range today.  All I can say is that it is incredibly fun and functions like a dream (flawless with CCI Blazer 40gr - I started with the standard spring, then moved to the red spring).  I was hoping I would like it - but I LOVE it!  Can't wait for the Henning Group red dot mounts to get back in stock so I can add a Vortex Venom.

One item of note.  When I first tried to install the slide, the metal part slid on perfectly but the plastic bit at the muzzle end was too wide for the slide rails.  I used 220 grit sandpaper and barely took anything off the nubs on either side of the plastic part that slide into the receiver rails, then it worked perfectly.  After rinsing off the white residue left by the sandpaper, you couldn't even tell I modified it.

I highly recommend buying this.  It's the cost of a decent 22lr pistol but it makes for a well-above average 22lr pistol.

Oh, and if anyone can give me a hint about taking apart the mags for cleaning, I'd appreciate the tips.  Otherwise, I'll try to figure it out and post what I find.

Without seeing / knowing what the bottom of the Base looks like, I wouldn't be sure
But (afaIk), some of those Ploy Mags come apart, as most any of your Steel Body Mag would
There's usually a Hole in the Base to depress Locking Plate (It may be hard to see it inside that void
Then the Base "should" slide forward
Being everything's Polymer, it may be a bit tight, and need some "encouragement"

If that's not the case, then there's the type with a solid, one piece Body construction
These you need to take it apart from the Top, through the Feedlips  (It helps if you have a single Chopstick handy for this)
There are two Pins that need to be removed
One is the Thumb Assist Pin for the Follower
This is removed by sliding the Thumb Assist all the way down to that round opening at the bottom of its travel
Then press that Thumb Assist Pin, out, from one side or the other
That Chopstick works great to hold and control your Follower
The Follower (and maybe the Spring) should come (and if not controlled .... FLYING) out through the Feedlips

The other is the Pin down towards the Bottom
This holds the Spring Plug in place
It should just slide right out, now that there isn't any Spring Pressure holding it

Reassembly is just the reverse
That's where you'll really need that Chopstick    ;)

Good luck .... remember .... Eye Protection    8)
