Been bowhunting the big woods near home and feel a need to try hunting deer with my CZ97B this season. Figure on alternating between the 527 (in 7.63 x 39) and the 45 acp pistol. Love that close-in hunting. It's thrilling to get within 20 yards of a white tail. O0

Good luck and let us know how it goes. Out of curiosity, what are you using for a hunting load in .45 ACP?

Best of luck and be ready to do some tracking. The main problem I've seen with 45ACP is with a JHP load, lack of an exit wound and with most FMJ/roundnose, not much shock. If your pistol will handle 45 Super loads a 255gr hardcast flat point would be a good choice. If limited to 45ACP use a heavy hardcast flat point like Buffalo Bore's 255gr +p load or the similar Underwood loading.
For short range deer hunting with a handgun I prefer heavy for caliber Keith style or semi wadcutter bullets in a revolver. Usually a 260 to 300gr bullet in a 44 Special or a 300 to 325gr bullet in a 45 Colt. Those bullets will break bones, punch through and leave an exit wound with a good blood trail.

Seriously, this is some handy info. Thanks for the input.

Out of curiosity what state are you in? I'm in Ohio and the minimum handgun caliber last time I checked was .357 mag.

Am in Wisconsin. Fully legal with the 45 ACP. Barrel-length restrictio s have been removed for this year, as well.
