I picked up a Sig Romeo MSR green dot optic. The mount is a tall mount that will not work with the factory standard Scorpion stock for co-witness. I would like to absolute co-witness with the iron sights which are the CZ factory sights on the carbine. I've been told Aimpoint T1 or T2 mount will work. Is this the same as the Aimpoint micro mount? Confusing for a first time optic user. If anyone knows for certain what will work if you could provide a link it would be much appreciated.

What you are describing is what I want to accomplish but I have the optic I need to put a low profile mount on it. I don't want to purchase another optic with the needed mount. Mounts are not cheap and I just would like someone with more knowledge than myself to point me to the mount I need. Thanks for your reply and nice looking Scorpion you have there!

See if there is a spacer in the middle of your current mount, remove the four screws and see if the middle can be removed...

Nope all one piece.

I'm pretty sure I have a Holosun low mount that has the same footprint. It would provide work if you want it. Provided I can find it.

I ordered a American Defense Quick-Release Aimpoint Micro T-1 mount from Midway. I'm told this will do the trick and get the Romeo MSR optic low enough to absolute co-witness with the CZ iron sights. It shipped from Midway yesterday. Once I get it and get it mounted I will report back as to the results should it help someone with the same question in the future.

Looking forward to your review of the mount. Looking for a co-witness mount my self.

I run Sig Romeo 5 red dots on both of my Scorpions. I run the tall mount and like the fact that the red dot lines up with my eye but I can look through the mount and still use the factory sights. My carbine is the one with the 15 inch rail, my pistol has the factory folding stock with a tailhook adapter.

I discovered something the other day with my Skorp and the Holosun 403a I have mounted on it with the tall tunnel mount. I have had to lay off doing any shooting since August due to a shoulder injury that is just about cleared up. I put a braced AR together this fall and now have enough strength to shoulder a rifle repeatedly and read this thread yesterday. I have been doing this in my house as we got dumped upon with snow this week. I was switching shouldering both my new AR and the Skorp and noticed I was searching for the cowitness on the Skorp that I have with my AR and not finding it with the tall mount in use right away. Muscle memory has me doing that and am pretty sure that my new P-10c pistol with a Vortex Venom has something to do with it too. I am going to put my low mount on the Skorp to see if I get a good lower 1/3 view to stop me from searching for my dot. For me it is instinctive to find the irons when I shoulder and without that instant cowitness I have on all of my RD guns, I tend to search for the dot if it is not part of my sight picture.

ARP, I have Holosun 503's on 2 different braced pistol Scorpions using the low mount. For me, it puts the red dot directly on top of the front sight post for a perfect co-witness. I keep the rear sight set with the largest aperture for quickest sight acquisition. Since I don't use any type of QD mount, if I should go to take a sight and the red dot is not on for any reason, the fixed sights are right there and it is a seamless transition without any of the head bobbing I have seen with those that have the high mounts. When the red dot is on, I don't even "see" the front sight as I am looking at the target with both eyes open and superimposing the red dot.

I know this isn't what you say you are looking for, but I would seriously recommend going with a see-through high mount and a lower-third co-witness. Getting your optic up higher will help in a number of ways, and if it actually fails on you at some critical moment, you can still see through the mount to use the iron sights. But scrunching your head down to a flush-mounted, absolute co-witness optic on a carbine is not going to be all the comfortable, nor necessary.

Exactly what I am looking to do I think. I just noticed the head bobbing thing when I was futzin' with both guns in succession. I had never done that before going from one to the other within a brief amount of time.

I just discovered that my 403A that I run on my Skorp is the first gen version and for some reason they gave you a choice of the high rise or low rise mount at the time of purchase. I chose the high as this was going on an AR and would co witness. That version, the battery is on the underside of the sight, not the side mount tray.
What I want to do is put a low mount on it to get co witness. I have 2 other Holosun RDz, V2, and they came with high or low. simple right? Never. Those 2 low mounts have Dawson esque cut outs, do not mount flat and secure so they are a no go. My other option is leave the tall sight on the 403A and mount it on one of my ARz and buy a Vortex Sparc or something like that for my Skorp. I think I am done with Holosun. I have had 2 of them crap out on me, both with the same problem, unable to adjust. One did it straight out of the box, the other crapped out this summer. At least with Vortex I have a warranty that at this time is still good.
So does anyone have one they would like to part with? Thanks in advance.

Just to update. I received and installed the Aimpoint T1 Micro low profile mount and I get the exact same results. Green dot is in far lower left hand corner and will not adjust from that position. If I remove my cheek from the stock and look through the optic the dot will move more to the center.
I guess I'm at a loss now. The mount is as low as you are going to get that optic to the rail. If it's a bad optic I'm still screwed as Optics Planet does not take returns on optics that have been mounted before. My last stop is to take it to a local gunsmith and see what they say. I have the feeling it's a simple solution that is going to make me feel silly when shown to me. :-[

I have to ask, do any of the adjustments move the dot? I read your replies and did not see any indications that this was fact. I apologize in advance if I missed that nugget.
2 things to be aware of; Optics Planet has a bad habit(used to) of taking returns of optics that the returnee did not report as broken or defective. They then return them to the warehouse shelf or the bad unit somehow somewhere gets back into stock as a good unit and resold as a good unit. I have been burnt in this scenerio twice, once by Planet Optics and once by Brownells. The PO unit was a Vortex Strikefire II, I ordered, was told out of stock, I found another, tried to cancel PO order and they said sorry already shipped to you, so I waited for as the gun I planned to put it on was not completed. 30 day window expired, got the gun finished, put the optic on and out of the box it would not adjust. But alas, a Vortex with lifetime warranty. I sent it in and they determined it was broken and sent me a new one.
The Brownells burn was a Holosun 403b I bought last Christmas at the retail store in Grinnell Iowa. Got it home, tried it out and it would not adjust out of the box. Funny thing it was the last one in stock. They would not refund my money but did give me a GC to be spent at the retail store only. I live a good 1000 miles away from that store and doubtful I will ever make it back there to spend it. We re negotiated the GC to be spent on line.
What is important about the Brownells purchase is that Sig Romeo is a re badged Holosun. I have had 2 Holosun 403b units crap out on me this year, the one from them and a second one last month. I am done with Holosun and will only be buying Vortex due to warranty alone.
I will be buying a Vortex Crossfire with the upgraded diode that gives a 50k battery life here shortly to replace the Holosun. Comes with a high and low mount. $150.

My Vortex Crossfire arrived today. It is a far more robustly built optic that the Holosun 403b it is replacing. I will be sighting it using the low mount configuration for 25yds. I get lower 1/3 co witnessing with that mount.
I have another thread going here in the EVO forum and there are 2 great videos posted about sighting distance and reloads, great stuff.
