Title: Cz 457 varmint
Post by: skin on December 20, 2020, 02:57:03 PM
Recently I was able to handle a 457 mtr. I fell in love with the stock. I ordered one from cz and put it on my varmint. Switched out the 16.5 inch barrel to the original 20 inch. Looked through the original 20 inch barrel with a bore scope and it was perfect. No chatter marks in the chamber. Rifling is crisp. Crown is perfect. Just have to shoot it next week. I switched the scope to a Bushnell elite 4.5x30 I had laying around. Have my fingers crossed in hopes it will shoot good. Finally made it to the range today (3/22/21). I put a Mueller 8 x 32 scope on it from a friends recommendation. It worked out very well.
Sighted it in at 25 yds. Nice round 1 hole groups. Moved to 50 yds and still shooting well under moa. Decided to try 100 yds. The first five five shot groups were ok, around 1 inch. The small dot in the scope was bouncing around a lot. I tried using a bench rest technique,  not touching the rifle, just the trigger for the next two groups and shot .592 and .698. The ammo I shoot is RWS subsonic hp hunting ammunition. I noticed that it took about 25 rounds to settle in and start shooting good.
I love the MTR stock ,the way it feels and rides the front and rear bags. I  think the factory barrel is really good also.
I'm not up to Europe's shooting ability, but I'm working on it.

Great looking peashooter. I like my 455 varmint a lot. My ex loves shooting it also. Going to put a higher powered scope on it later this year. 4x12 vortex ao is great but I’d like to up the ante a little

Very nice! I have a 455 Varmit Evolution that blows my mind when I take it out. Shoots sub moa at 100 yards when I do my part.

I really like the look of the MTR series. There is enough wood on these stock so that with a little whittling they could be made to work left handed but I haven't committed to this, yet anyway.
