I was surprised to not see any birds on the feeders this afternoon. After a couple minutes of watching, I know why all the song birds and doves disappeared.

Looks like an immature peregrine falcon. It wasn't the least bit afraid of me watching at the window. Watched it bag a dove from the bird bath. launched straight up, did a wing over and caught a mourning dove. We usually see a few adult peregrines in the area, first young one I've spotted in 4 or 5 years.

Ever now and then a small bird will do a crash and burn into my sliding glass patio door and knock itself stupid. Two summers ago a sparrow piled into the door and before it could get it's senses back one of those swooped down and spirited it away for an early lunch I'm certain.

Every day, a new "TUMP' on your Sliding Glass Door

Crows hate hawks. And owls.
Songbirds hate crows, too. Heard a racket one day when I was outside. A crow was flying through the air with something in it's mouth (baby bird) and all kinds of smaller birds were chasing it. Mocking birds, sparrows, robins, and more. Doing their best to get that crow to drop that baby bird, but it flew off into the woods after sitting on the roof long enough to either kill the baby bird or get a better grip on it with it's beak.

Not long ago I had an opportunity to watch a young Bald Eagle going after ducks on a roadside pond. He wasn't effective at all, but he sure was beautiful. He made several passes until he noticed me and bugged out.

We have bald eagles around here. See them sometimes around (flying over) the house but where 15 miles or so from the water/river.
At work we where right on the river (James River, south of Richmond, VA.) The eagles would "fish" in a pond just outside the fence. Sometimes you'd see them cruising over, drop down, grab a fish and fly away with it. Had a pair nesting in a big tree near the railroad spur that delivered some of our raw materials to the plant site. Some visitors from England heard about the nest and decided to walk down the track to see the eagles up close and maybe get some pictures. Momma eagle didn't take kindly to someone walking down the tracks that close and came out of the nest and ran them back down the tracks to the road.
Another time, a guy coming in to work saw an eagle fly up off the ground near the edge of the woods and fly towards the road with a snake hanging from it's claws. Nice weather, so he had his truck window down and his bent arm sticking out. As they got closer he realized the eagle would fly over him and thought that was kind of cool - till the eagle dropped the snake and it came down across his arm. He almost wrecked his truck. He said if anyone had been driving out when he was driving in he'd have hit them.

Birds harassing crows and crows harassing birds of prey is called "mobbing" by birders.
I saw a small hawk or falcon pop a smaller bird out of a cedar tree, while I was hunting earlier this year
