How did the barrels interchange ??
Is it as accurate as the other rim fires they make??

455 was made with interchangeable barrels. Think the 457 uses the same system. Barrels are held in place by two screws much like the Ruger .1022 System is quite accurate.
Best wishes.

The CZ 455 and 457 series rifles allow for barrel swaps. The magazines and barrels also interchange between these two series. These two rifles, the 455's and 457's also are caliber interchangeable. If you want to go from 22 L.R. to the 17 HMR or 22 WRM you swap the barrel for the other caliber of choice, remove the spacer in the magazine well (So it will accept the longer 17HMR/22 Mag magazine) and go to shooting. The two earlier CZ rimfire rifle series , the 452 and 453, are not inter changeable.

Is there a specific model in the 455 or 457 to look for

Your other post mentions squirrel hunting and kept by the door as a pest rifle. It depends on what you want and how your planning on setting it up. If you prefer open sights CZ offers the Jaguar with a 28.5 inch barrel, if you have a suppressor they offer a couple of shorter threaded barrel options, if the most precise is what your after then maybe the MTR, and as an all arounder the American or heavier barreled Varmint, maybe the combo offering with both 22 L.R. and 17 HMR barrels and magazines. Myself I have 452's in Full Stock and a Lux and some Americans also a single 455 Full Stock, these are the stock and barrel profile's I prefer and they work for me but what your needs and what appeals to you is up to you.

Would it be cheaper to just buy 2 Americans one in 17 and one in 22??

CZ has the MSR price of $515 for the 457 American and a MSR of $655 for an 457 American Combo in 22 L.R. with the extra 17 HMR barrel, magazine and tools. So the combo saves $375 over a pair of 457 Americans. Normally I'd say street or real world prices should be less but at this moment in time that might be wishful thinking.

that would get you 2 rifles and 2 is better than 1

If you ever worked the bolt on a ruger american 22lr you wouldn't ask that question. Horrible.

I purchased a model 455 with the .22 barrel and only fired approximatly 100 rds. due to limited range time during the pandemic and it has been exceptionally accurate. Recently acquired a ,22 WMR barrel used to swap out and have yet to get out yet but will very soon.

Unless the scope or sight attaches directly to the barrel the switch barrel concept is just smoke and mirrors, imo. It throws off my POI enough just switching ammo brands or types. Changing calibers/barrels means resighting all over. I also use very different scopes for 22lr, 17hm2, and 223(what I upgraded to when I realized I could reload and shoot it cheaper than 17HMR & 22 mag. Plus get better groups.) The only alternative would be quick release rings so you swap barrel and the receiver mounted scope. I’ve never done it but with all the variables of barrel torque and scope mount reset seems like you would at least need a trip to the range to confirm it’s all dialed in. Just buy 2 CZ rifles! All problems solved! (Except buying ammo)
