So after forgotten about the Bren 2 from my radar, an LGS miraculously had 2 MS 11" 5.56 in stock. I'm not gonna brag i got it at a steal because i didn't. It was like someone mentioned here, pretty much at MSRP. But with the current political climate, recent event and the call for awb, at least I can say that this is a pistol.
Anyway I gave it a thorough clean and inspection and left it in the safe. Only to find out today, one of my ARs was leaning on it and gave my brand new Bren 2 a scratch on the right side. Ouch!! anyway it'll be a shooter so I'm not too worry about it. I did the washer mod to tighten the back plate. I have a Sylvan AR tube folder on the way.
Optic wise, well, my wallet needs to recover first so this PA red dot will do for now. Another thing i need is a suppressor mount and ship the gas tube/ block to HBI for the 3rd hole.
Anyway here she is, with authentic Czech military issue combat shirt that I got from one of them guys during a training mission 2 years ago.

Congratulations on the new Bren, you're going to love it. The hardest thing right now with the purchase of a new firearm is being able to find enough ammo at a reasonable price to be able to enjoy it.

Im in Houston, Tx and I started seeing ammo trickle back in at academy. 5.56 brass case is around 65-70 cents per round. Pre panic was around 50-55 cents per round. I got spoiled with steel cased ammo for sure and haven't pulled the trigger on buying extra ammo. I may pick more after my wallet recovers lol. The way I see it, if i averaged the new ammo price with how much i paid for the cheap steel stuff, i still come out on top eventually since i got quite a bit amount of the cheap stuff. Gonna hit the range in a bit. I'll do a quick review after the trip. Mostly zero and mag test.

Just got back from the range. Overall, I'm satisfied with the performance of this platform.
2 CZ supplied mags with wolf gold 223 - all loaded 30 rds each
2 magpul mags with monarch 223 - all loaded 30 rds each
Well, this thing shoots really good, very smooth throughout. I definitely enjoy shooting it and even with the thin , 11" barrel, the accuracy is excellent. Shooting was done at 50 yds using that PA red dot that is at this point almost 10 years old. I used the CZ mags first with no issues. Then I used the magpul mags with monarch ammo in it. Halfway through the 3rd mag (1st magpul) i got a click and no bang. I waited a bit in case it was a hang-fire and I tried ejecting the mag using the right side mag release button. It was stuck in place. I thought, that was weird. I then tried using the left mag release paddle and the mag came right out. No resistance using the paddle. I rack the bolt and the chamber was empty. So it did not pick up a round. My theory is that with cheap monarch ammo, the QC wasn't that great and I think I got an underpowered cartridge that has enough powder to cycle but not enough to push the bolt all the way back to feed another rd. If memory serves me right, this brand of ammo did the same thing with my ARs. Ejection was positive around 3:30-4:00 position on the default gas setting.
So that cluster was around 100 rds, I used up maybe 20 rds to zero and play around with iron sights (need to zero them too but forgot my tool, shot high).
I also took it apart to see if there's abnormality in wear pattern but so far everything looks good. i'm definitely glad at how clean the bolt looks compared to my ARs with similar round count.

I have the same 11" 5.56mm except mine is a SBR with a VFG and ACR stock. You're gun is worth every penny of the MSRP IMO. Welcome to the club!

I thought about the SBR route and I have an AR that's an SBR already but at this point in time, I don't wanna give the gvt another penny after calls for gun control and my rifle registered in the database. For all intent and purposes, i'm gonna keep it as a pistol for now.

I have the same rig, except I went with a Trijicon MRO red dot optic. I love mine, it has been solid right out of the box!

Are your Magpul Pmags Gen II or Gen III??? I know the Gen III are not STANAG because of that stupid "over insertion" shelf, that might be bottoming out on the edge of the magwell insert and binding the mag up. Check your mags.
