Subject says it all.
This is a female co-worker that pocket carries. I am thinking a nice pocket holster or some premium ammunition. This is not a close friend, but I would like to do something that is useful and suitable, rather than a stupid toaster or something random!
EDIT: I forgot to mention that she has some real problems with finding decent ammo right now, so I am leaning ammunition.

If you're really a friend, you'd get her a Sig P365 to replace the M&P! ;D
(And 9mm seems a lot easier to find at a decent price.)

I'd do the ammo, if you can find it, but a holster might be easier to get.

Underwoodammo.com my man.

Another vote for Ammunition here, if you can find some. :)
I used to reload the .380 ACP, back when I considered it a fair option. Still could, if I had to.
I have only one .380 ACP Pistol left in my Collection, a Walther PPK/S.

Give your friend at least 500 rounds of .380 ammo 8).

She uses one of those Uncle Mike's deals that is mostly intended to keep pocket lint and crud out of the pistol, so almost anything would be an upgrade.
I am leaning towards ammo, because I know she is having such a hard time getting it. OTOH, a holster is more "permanent." It's kind of weird to give someone a wedding gift that could be expended in under 15 minutes at a range...
If anyone has any experience with .380 or the S&W, specifically, for ammo choices, I would appreciate it. I have almost no experience with .380.

How about a gift certificate with a local trainer to go with the ammo?

Back in the day when I carried my PPK/S .380, my choice then was the 85 grain Winchester Silvertip, which can still be a good choice.
These days, I would instead choose the CCI/Speer 90 grain Gold Dot JHP.
For Practice Ammunition, the Aluminum Cased Federal Champion works great in most any .380 ACP chambered Pistol.

One of those purses with a place for your CCW might be appreciated. It might also be received better if she opens it at the wedding around family and friends who may not be gun people.

That’s a solid, practical gift idea! I had a similar situation last year with a co-worker who carried, and I went the ammo route. She was struggling to find decent self-defense rounds, so I tracked down a couple of boxes of her preferred brand. She was genuinely appreciative—it’s one of those things that’s both thoughtful and actually useful. If you’re unsure about her exact preference, maybe a gift card to a reputable local shop could work too.

Personally, I think the entire 'gun' idea is way off base.
Wedding gifts are for the couple. Typically to get them started on their life together, especially if they are under 25 and/or it's a first marriage.
Anything gun related will be construed as "for her only", and may put up "road blocks" between you and her new husband. That is exactly what you don't want.
Buy them a nice bottle of wine or champagne. Then, MUCH LATER, you can hand her some ammo.
Think about it.
1. How would you feel if someone gave your wife a personal present when you got married, especially something gun related. It might be taken as "If this doesn't work out, then shoot the low-life."
2. And too, she may only presently carry because she's single AND going home to an "empty" apartment. All that is ending.

Pretty sure this wedding has already happened so at this point they probably could both use a drink not a gun or ammo.
