Title: Is the SSpacer Sear Spacer required with the Adjustable Sear?
Post by: 5am on May 27, 2021, 07:03:03 PM
Hi guys, I have a cz-75 compact. I saw a thread mentioning the spacer for the shadow but couldn't get a definite answer. CGW's sear spacer page says this item is needed but it doesn't mention this item in the adjustable sear page.

Now this leads to some confusion... if the spacer is "needed" then why isn't it noted in the sear product description? The hammer notes that the pins are needed (and also sold separately...  >:() so this leads me to believe its not actually needed. Can you guys provide some input?

Since you didn't specify which compact you have leading to more confusion I will assume you have a standard 75B compact. If that's the case you can install the adjustable sear without the spacer. That being said unless you are going to be buying a new hammer as well from CGW the sear will be of little benefit.

Sear Spacers are required when you are removing the Firing Pin Block from a CZ 75 variant Safety modle with a FPB. They may also come into play if you are installing a narrow B (FPB) model Sear into a CZ Shadow or other non - FPB model CZ.

In these instances the Sear Spacer takes the place of the removed FPB Lifter Arm. The CGW Adjustable Sear is the same width as a factory CZ 75 variant B (FBP) model Sear. It serves as a direct replacement for the factory Sear with the added benefit of adjustability to easily regain safety lever function in the case that you change other the factory Hammer.

If you intend on leaving the FPB in your CZ intact a Sear spacer is not required.

Thanks for the replies guys.

To specify, its a standard 75b compact, thanks for letting me know about how this could confuse others. And I have the hammer with it too! Excited to install these upgrades.

And thanks for the explanation Tok36, thats 2 for 2 now

Is there an aluminum spacer I can get from the local hardware store, instead of paying over $15 to having something shipped to me from a vendor?

What dimensions of the spacer would I be looking for?

Well it has to fit over the sear pin and be wide enough to fill the space of the firing pin block lifter.  It can be estimated if the parts are apart on your bench by measuring the width of the original shadow sear and the width of the CGW sear and getting the difference.  Subtract a small amount for clearance.

I don't have the parts here in front of me to help out directly.  I could pull out my spare parts when I get home if needed.

Cheers,
Toby

I just purchased from one of the well known vendors.. I justified shipping cost by getting myself some new sights!  oh yea!
