Title: Dan Wesson 10mm recs
Post by: cambridge00 on September 08, 2021, 12:12:06 AM
Thinking about a DW 1911 in 10mm, but there are a whole bunch of different models out there. Can someone please make some recommendations? And maybe highlight some of the differences other than the obvious barrel length differences? It would be for the range only.

I have a 10mm Glock, and I like the caliber (and capacity), but really don't enjoy the Glock ergos. Love my 9mm CZs (TSO, SP-01, 97).

Thanks.

Tanfoglio makes CZ clones in 10mm.  I was close to buying one but got a Glock 10mm instead.  I sanded off the finger grooves and did an undercut.  It did alot to improve ergos.

I know you asked about Dan Wesson but just wanted to give you some other options as well.

I also have another non answer for you. When I began looking into the 10mm I wanted to like the Glock because they seemed to have better durability record than 1911's. I just couldn't though. So I began to look at the 1911 platform. There were two 10mm 1911's available locally. A Dan Wesson Razorback and a Kimber Eclipse. The Razorback was a stainless 5 inch fixed sights gun with a right handed only safety. After debating the pro's and con's of the Dan Wesson and the Kimber I went to purchase the Dan Wesson. It of course was sold. So ended up with the Kimber. The Kimber was less than perfect and made a trip back to the factory (on Kimber's dime) and was taken care of. These two 1911's are pretty similar and the Dan Wesson Razorback was my first choice mainly because it didn't have forward slide serrations. A silly reason I'll agree but it was the main deciding one. That's how similar I found them to be. Later on I pretty much fell backwards into a Glock 20 at a very decent price and it's not as terrible as it seems to be. But I haven't gotten rid of the Kimber either. If for what ever reason these two 10mm's ever go the Glock will go first.

Well I purchased a Razor back and I just got it back from the mother ship.
I didn't get more than one magazine threw it before the slide seized to the frame.
So the remainder of that range trip I fired my Kimber which I also had to send in for it being full auto after a few magazines.

Now my Tanfoglio and pf45 Glock 20 clone I haven't had any trouble with.
Both of those I also have 9x25 dillon barrels for.

My Dan Wesson Bruin shoots very well and is a fine example of their craftsmanship.
