When on vacation, I usually look for interesting places to check out, like this recent trip to Flagstaff, Arizona. I went to Meteor Crater, Lowell Observatory, The Pioneer Museum, The Museum of Northern Arizona, Sunset Crater, and Ruff's Guns. Waitaminnit, Ruff's Guns? Yes, little gun shop right off Hysterical...*ahem*, I mean HISTORICAL Route 66, that I just felt calling me. They have a bunch of CZs, which endeared them to my heart, and the prices weren't bad. Same shop, same place since the 1950s.
Then, I asked about reloading supplies. I wasn't expecting anything, as this is a remote town with sporadic deliveries, etc., but what the hey.
Two pounds of CFE 223 for $33 each. Who says you can't find the perfect souvenir?

Good score! 8) Congratulations! :) Glad you enjoyed your Vacation!
Ruff's Guns sounds like a great shop to visit! http://ruffssportinggoods.com/

Double reward ! Sounds like you were having a good time too.
Opportunity is always knocking on a door somewhere. Life's good as long as we keep opening them !

Should have messaged me, I would have taken you out to dinner! You were in my backyard practically.
Good to get out of the heat once in a while, glad you found some powder! Did they have any primers!?
Cheers,
Toby

Sorry, amigo, I didn't know! We had a BLAST, best vacation in MANY years, saw all kinds of great stuff and met some very nice people. Absolutely loved Lowell Observatory and the 125 year old Clark Telescope that NASA used to map the moon for the moon shot, with Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong in the same room I was standing in, Percival Lowell's personal telescope until his death in 1916. The Pluto telescope isn't quite as old or imposing, but it did find our ninth planet in 1930, and I don't care - Pluto IS a planet, so neener. My son was not amused that he did not get to go. Meteor Crater was another place that I didn't expect to find really fascinating, but it was very cool. Sunset Crater, not so much, you see one volcano, you've seen them all...
Black Bart's was hysterical for dining, expensive, (rack of lamb for her and 16 oz ribeye for me, $120 out the door, IIRC), but the wait staff entertain with singing and vignettes. Imagine all the wait staff, (all NAU college students), stopping what they are doing all over the room to join in to "Be Our Guest" from Beauty and the Beast. We were there LONG after the meal was over and nobody cared. Flag is a beautiful town that still manages to LOOK small, with the careful use of pine trees EVERYWHERE. I was in heaven - I love Ponderosa pines.
To keep this SOMEWHAT gun related I carried my P-10C and my best friend carried the P-10S, both in High Noon holsters.

Glad you had fun! I haven't been to Black Bart's in years, it is an experience.
It's almost fall color season, next time check out Locket Meadow (Mid Oct is best). The aspens are starting to change and the elk are talking. It's a good time to be outdoors up here.
I'm currently working up the final load development for my 6mm ARC and my son's 7mm-08. I had to wait till the temps cooled off a bit before finalizing it. It should be cool enough in the early AM (~40) this weekend. My two oldest have their first deer hunt in a month.
Cheers,
Toby

Two pounds of CFE 223 for $33 each? That’s a solid find!
Usually, for trips like this, I’ve started using this site at https://travelbusinessclass.com/ (https://travelbusinessclass.com/)to book flights. It makes everything a lot easier and more comfortable, especially when you’re bouncing around to different places. It’s a nice way to kick off a vacation on a good note.

You do realize this is from 2021? If you are trying to get your post count up why not join in on the most recent conversations?
-
Do post counts mean anyhting? Is that what the goal is…does this count then ha!
-
No, post counts don't mean much, we don't really care UNLESS you are trying to get to the 100 limit to win a gun in the annual Christmas Gift Giving...which IS going on right now, come to think of it.
Yes, that was a while ago, but it was a great trip. I will be heading up to Cottonwood soon, might see if there are any gunshops in that town to CZech out...but I doubt I'll find a powder score like THAT again! BTW, it took me over a year to go through those two pounds of powder, small volume reloader here, but now with getting into SASS, I will have to step it up some.
