Ordered a lo mount rail and firing pin.
Sent an extractor but no FP. Doh.
The mount slides on OK, but the lever applies NO locking - its useless. Also, the finish is paper thin - very disappointing. Not very well designed or made.
-
There's no adjustment in the locking mechanism before you tighten down? Most side rail mounts have some provision for this.
-
This one also has the play-do soft lever. It’s going back. They must have a bad batch of side rails.
-
They all come as a loose fit. You have to adjust the locking lever to suit your rail. Push up against the spring and tighten the nut.

Yes, this is what I was referencing.

Thanks guys but I got one with a bad lever also. Soft.
-
They sent me a new one and it’s the high mount. This one doesn’t go on the whole way. Guess I’m jinxed with these side mounts.
-
Have you got the correct rail? Factory fitted?

Get an RS Regulate side mount. They’re excellent.

My rail says CSA on it - it is factory. Installed by Dan Brown himself. He would have known if there was an issue.

That MIGHT be the route to go - about twice the price, but they have to decide to make them again.
I am also considering ditching the whole idea. I have another thread coming.

Well, you get what you pay for, and RS Regulate side mounts are the best in the business: lightweight, sturdy and repeatable zero.

RS Regulate looks to be out of circulation. Been watching for months.

You might contact RS Regulate direct and see when they plan on making Vz58 mounts again. The owner is attentive to his customers and that mount is in demand. They sell out pretty quickly.

He's still in business, but a small shop that was hampered by COVID regulations and just trying to get caught up with unprecedented demand per discussion here or elsewhere.

I’ll launch the latest CP mount back soon. Too bad. I’ll go with RS regulate when available.
