Title: What is min. thickness of a VZ receiver?
Post by: Laufer on October 18, 2021, 04:21:03 PM
Only asking due to my new (and nib) Zastava ZPAP, with its 1.5 mm receiver.

Just returned from the club with the Czechpoint, and it seems barely thicker than the ZPAP.

This has Nothing to do with the ZPAP's bulged trunnion, just curious about a basic comparison.

There is no comparison. The AK is a stamped sheet metal receiver. The VZ is a milled receiver from a solid block of steel. If your rifle is a checkpoint then it to spec and should not be of concern.

vblue42: Thanks.

Neither thickness was a concern. The ZPAP is my fifth imported AKM. Have frequently read AKfiles for ten years (watched AKOU 5,000-rd. evals, recently).

I knew years ago (am age 66) which guns are stamped and milled.

Obviously ZPAP has a pretty strong receiver, having been designed to shoot (formerly) "Yugo" or Serbian grenades---
