Title: Small trigger adjustments
Post by: cournot on October 22, 2021, 11:53:16 AM
Hi.  I acquired a Shadow 2 SAO.  And it is really a fantastic gun.  However, the SA pull is a consistent 3.5 lbs.  I would like it to be a bit lower at 2.75 to 3 lbs., which would make it comparable to my older Shadow 1.  What is the simplest set of changes I can make as I am not very confident in my gunsmithing abilities.

For example, I presume the hammer spring isn't important as there is no DA to worry about.  I could use an 11 lb recoil spring.  But would I get a trigger improvement if I changed the firing pin and firing pin spring as in the Cajun or CZ Custom kits?  I was told changing to a race hammer would affect the crispness of the pull but not really the weight.  As I don't have problems with the way the trigger hits the wall now as well as the reset, I figure that this change is probably not worth it.  Is this correct?

I would like the minimum work possible with the biggest bang for the buck change, while maintaining reliability.

Thanks.

Install a Hammer with shorter hooks and a 13/15# hammer spring.

Install a lighter trigger return spring.

Polish as shown on this forum.

I thought that would only affect the DA pull.  Not so sure about the TRS.

Why not the TRS?  It has been fully vetted by users across the world.  It is a normal mod for most folks and is actually more durable than OEM.

It will give you the trigger pull weight you are after and is really easy to install with the slave pin.  Just purchase the floating trigger pin too while there and really make your life easier.

Cheers,
Toby

New recoil spring, reduced power TRS, floating trigger pin, hammer spring, extended firing pin and reduced power fps ordered from Cajun.  Not eager to try replacing the hammer, so we'll see if these are good enough to knock down at least half a pound off the pull.
