I’ve seen people post talk of rare CZs, got one? Or two? Post a pic of yours with an explanation of why it is rare. I am curious to see some of the odd stuff CZ has done over the years, and we all know there’s been a few. If this has been done before on here, I missed it. If it needs to be moved, I understand. I think the rare ones, or very limited editions are very interesting… I may have an oddball or two in my collection that I don’t even know about…
-
Interesting models I own or had shot:
1. Short rail
2. 85D compact
3. P-01 steel frame
4. any transitional 92.-95. but I like 95. full transtion the most.
5. od green p-01
6. any factory blued 75/85/B model
7. older style 85 combats
8. shadow line 75 compact
things I dont like: hammer and sickle model, anniversary models, omega, 75 B SA...

CZ 75 DAO.

How about a 2006 75B with an OD frame and a black slide?

Off the top of my head for rare and unusual “ordinary” pistols, thus excluding commemorative/special editions and finishes, I’d say -
Unfluted frame (1994)
Ambi-safety CZ75 (1984/85)
Ambi-decocker CZ75 BD (1997)
DAO CZ75B (2000)
“CZECH MADE” roll marked CZ75 (1993)
You can find some of these in the history and serial range section.
https://czfirearms.us/index.php?board=100
The Compacts (steel and aluminum frames) have their own mix-and-match schemes during late 1990s-early 2000s during the development of a compact style pistol for the Czech national police. Many came into the USA during the past +5 years as surplus but not so much any more.

I bought a couple of those P01 looking framed CZ 75 Compacts.
Not sure if they made anymore marked CZ75 Compact after that one run or started stamping them P01 on the slide while using a steel frame.
Has the rails of a P01 frame but is steel and doesn't have the grooves on the front/rear of the frame like the P01s do.
Has the deeper cut notches on the rear of the slide like some CZ75 slides have instead of the flat notches like most CZ slides.
Has the upswept beavertail unlike the regular CZ75 Compacts.
Has very thing safeties (ambidextrous) vs. the type of ambidextrous safeties on the CZ85s and .40 S&W frame B model 75's.
Both of mine (not a standard feature I hope) had the worst feeling triggers of any CZ pistols I've ever bought.

That pistol for the centennial of the First Czechoslovak Republic in 2018 is really nice and they keep one at the store in Prague, along with the 1000001 serial numbered CZ 75B. One of these was auctioned off by CZ on behalf of a charity for military/first responders.

I want to see pics of the ones you guys actually own as well. I have a few that are limited, but nothing really rare...I did get(overpay) a decent 1994 nickel the other day, my research says 94 was the first year of nickel(?). It's a full 75b, no transitional.

Awesome!
I just sold my favorite gun, an ITM AT84S in NOS condition. We wanna be debt free ASAP so unfortunately “unnecessary” guns are being sold off. I’m actually shipping it out in just a few minutes.
Is the gun culture still going strong in Switzerland?
-
That’s a nice gun I don’t have yet. And not easy to find, even here.
Yes, despite pressure from the European Union, guns and shooting enthusiasts are still important here. We also try to introduce and interest young people to the shooting sport and hobby.
-
Surprised no one has mentioned CZ’s unplanned model, the 40B and the surplus parts special edition, the 40P!
How about the CZ 75B “police” model.
There was also the ‘96 75B Turkish military contract over run pistols that were imported. Not really a model just different grips and box.

The 40b, the 96 Turkish overrun(near mint), and a well used, well loved BD Police…

I hardly ever see/hear about the satin nickel finished CZ's.
Got this one for my wife several years ago. I just realized I don't have a lot of pictures of this one. She only carried it a short time before going to the newer Compact with the DP Pro on it. I was not going to ruin this one by having the slide milled for the DP Pro.

I have a ‘94 “Transitional” 75, shown in its own thread.
My most unusual example is this 1993 CZ 75 B; it has no import mark and came with two correct magazines. I bought it in the used gun section of a major sporting goods store for about $325.
I couldn’t believe my dumb luck! (According to this site’s administrator, it’s the lowest SN “B” to surface, anywhere.)

Nice guns! Keep them coming….

All of these are beautiful.

I have a few now that I've been collecting for awhile. I can not even find one single picture of a factory blued steel frame decocker anywhere. I sent CZ USA an email but nothing back yet. My rare ones besides this are 75b blued 40, have 3 and CZ said only 35 total made over a 7 year period. A couple duotones, compact new still and a 40 also along with a couple satin nickel 40's. CZ said the 40 duotones were only 291 made. Also recently grabbed up a brand new in the oily bag a CZ75b compact 40 safety model!(https://hosting.photobucket.com/images/ww4/XoticRides/pix731816105.jpg)(https://hosting.photobucket.com/images/ww4/XoticRides/pix388373612.jpg)

Is the 40B rare? I saw one in a pawn shop a few years ago but I wasn't a 40 fan? those are some nice pews.

There's no way to know for sure, but it was most likely brought back by a U.S. soldier who bought it in Germany. Oddly enough, I bought a newish condition CZ 85 that has no import markings for $325.

I have a cz45 in .25acp and a cz52 in 9mm
Not sure if either are "rare" but I don't know ow anyone with them.

I would go more towards "uncommon" than "rare". The rare one are the actual Colt Z40 marked pistols. Still looking for one of those at an acceptable price.

Maybe rare, have a CZ75B matte stainless with LUER instead of LUGER stamped on it.

Seems interesting to me, im from Dominican Republic, gun imports were halted in 2013 and gun prices are crazy high... it was 6k for this baby!

I'm not sure about rare, but this is a 2004 75 SA. - Non B SA from the factory. I've. yet to meet anyone that has seen one in the flesh. I bought this one in The Netherlands a few months ago. Low A07 number A070041
CZ have no really info about it, only that a few were made and sent out, but to who, we don't know. Made about a year before the Shadow one came out, at a time when they were experimenting and trying out different combinations, so it could be an internal build or one sent to one of their testing team. No internal CZ docs exist for it, neither exploded diagrams or how many were made.
No firing Pin block, but also no extended safety as the regular 75B SA had.

Rudi, What a great find, congratulations.

What about the CZ75 P-02. I've never seen one in the flesh, but they are out there.

Don't know if it qualifies as rare or just a limited addition but there's a silver (25th, made in the year 2000) anniversary hi polish stainless model 75B with gold highlights and some light engraving, numbered 381 of 500 on Guns International for three grand. A bit different if nothing else, but not really my style.

I think it was nickel plated.
-
You may very well be right about it being a nickel finish. I'm not knowledgeable enough about the CZ 75 series pistols to say. I parroted what the listing said. Was CZ even offering a stainless material option on the 75's in 2000?

Because the lighting is obscuring the beavertail, which in reality is much longer than in the picture.

Don't know if it's truly rare, or perhaps just uncommon. That's actually what I've been trying to figure out. On a whim at this weekend's gun show I picked up a "Made in Czechoslovakia" marked 1992 transition in awesome condition. Just some mild holster wear on the bluing. New style front sight, old type safety, ringed hammer, combat trigger guard, tight magwell and no pin safety. Got it at a steal in my opinion at $375 but I don't know it's true value if it's even higher. Guy said he's had it forever and rarely touched it because the safety and trigger seemed odd compared to his other 2 75s. I tore it down and discovered that someone installed that annoying ass safety plunger backwards. Turned it around and reassembled and now functions flawlessly. I'll inbed a photo of anyone even still monitors this thread. Can't figure out how/if I can from my cellphone.

If you download the Tapatalk app on to your cell phone, it allows you to post photos directly from your photo library. Be aware of the photo size limits imposed by the forum…don’t think you can post any of the app’s three photo size options other than small. “Made In Czechoslovakia” for pistols prior to 1993 are the norm before the country separated. What is rare is to find a frame after 1983 with “Made in Czechoslovakia” on a single line and the smaller size font. If you look at the top of the page for the full size pistols, there’s a History and Serial Range section that provides detailed information.

Ah, I'll have to look into that. As far as the country stamp, I was just alluding to the fact that it's a year 1 transitional, so I'd imagine only 1992 and some 1993 transitionals will still say Czechoslovakia. Tens of thousands were likely made in that time but I still find it to be pretty interesting.

CZF has a maximum image size, regardless of the software you use to post images or how you view the forum. This is posted in the rules and has been there a LONG time. Additionally, this user was sent a welcome message stating CZF had rules and where those are posted. This user chose an image size 1/3 larger than the Max allowable.
When mods have to re-size images for users who can't obey the rules, then the image size (or whether to completely delete the image) becomes the moderator's choice. It's as simple as that.
Additionally, images in a quoted message have already been posted at a larger viewing size. If you need that larger size, then scroll back 1 or 2 messages... and there it is.

Thanks Wobbly -- resized so I could actually see the pics like I've done here for a decade or so, and my resize was w/in forum guidelines... Just noting that if folks are posting pics, it's nice for them to be sized so that we can actually see details of them, like here for a rare gun. As is, still can't see them w/o going off site/new tab, which is a pain.
And yes, as always, I appreciate all the mods here do, and a recognize your forum, your application rules. Thanks!

• The CZF maximum allowable static image size is LARGER than that of a video, so the CZF maximum image size should allow all viewers so see as much detail as they'd like.
• The new "thing" is for CZF users to view the forum from their phone. (Phone viewership has skyrocketed in the last 3 years.) That's great! However, when someone posts an image size at (say) 2500+ pixels or larger, then phone users end up having to pause and scroll up/down and then left/right, and never do enjoy the entire image. The end result is that those images are simply passed over and never viewed at all. So that super large images get far FEWER views, not more.
What we want is for all users, viewing CZF on any device (computer, phone, tablet, Chromebook, etc) to have an equal shot at enjoying all images. That makes viewing any image more democratic. Although you can't please all the people all the time.... reasonable image sizes, for the good of everyone, is the intent of the rule.

To be clear, not arguing, and FWIW:
- I open most YT vids on YT to watch there, typically in cinema mode if I want to see what's what in images, and
- Anyone who only views the interwebs on mobile devices, even these days is missing out -- I get the convenience aspect, but the fact of the matter here remains unchanged.
- I haven't really used this forum on mobile in over 5 years and approaching a decade now (credentials currently logged in and saved on my PC browser), but back then I thought the mobile experience was optimized and downscaled images even then -- is that no longer the case?
Regardless, sorry for apparently derailing this thread...

It was nice to finally meet the author of all these books. I will post something on the lecture later.

CZ 75 Compact L. Basically a P-01 with safety. Mine is from 2013. I believe they were only made for a year or two, and distributed by CZC.

IMPRESSIVE! Wow such a low numbered shortrail and never even knew they made a automatic! Are those rarer than the shortrails? Never seen one. Wonder how much they go for nowadays?

The full-sized, aluminum frame CZ 75B.
Check your 1999 CZ 75 Bs. The only pistol close to the SN of the specimen shown that I have tracked is a BD in Europe (with none of the distinguishing features of an aluminum frame).
More information in the link which is for the pinned pages of the Forum’s CZ 75 History and serial range section. Scroll down to the 1999 Year section.

I have one dated '06, S/N A216XXX, with olive drab frame and black slide. How common would one be?

Really nice historical pieces here. Keep’em comin. 8)

I don't have a picture, but my brother owns a PO2 which he bought new at least 15 years ago. All I think I remember about it is that it is alloy framed with a rail and an omega trigger, and not a decocker. I think the designation PO2 was dropped not long after he acquired it which makes me think that it may be worth a bit more than a current PO1 with the same setup.

Original roll mark for the P01 Omega.
I see them from time to time. Usually listed a little higher than the p01 omega but a hard sell as it’s only a rollmark change.
Here’s a gem.
