I was at my local shop picking up a different firearm when the owner was checking in a dozen colt revolvers and a CZ52 from an estate sale. Long story short, I got the CZ and 350 rounds of 7.62x25 for 350$. I couldn’t say no. It fires and functions great, I put some better grips on it because I liked the look. Anything I’m missing or should do? I remember hearing something about the decocker not being trustworthy but I can’t find any reference to it. Any guidance would be appreciated.

Congratulations on being a CZ52 owner!
1. You should test the decocker with a pencil inserted into the barrel eraser head against the back breach wall (no ammo), cock it, hold the barrel vertical and engage the decocker. If the pencil jumps even a little..then you cannot trust your decocker.
2. Be ware of using surplus eastern European ammo as it can leave an acidic residue. The original field instructions for soldiers carrying one was to first wash the barrel with water before regular cleaning to remove the acid residue before cleaning.
3. If you research further threads here (use the SEARCH feature while in the appropriate sub-forum) you will see recommendations regarding the roller blocks and maintenance as well as information on the firing pins.
Enjoy!

The original firing pins in the 52's are cast and they are brittle. Dry firing should be avoided.

You've got yourself a beautiful CZ52. :) Those are sharp looking wood grips. Well done.
