Has anyone looked into the differences between the Shadow (the all black one, 91154) and the Competition Red/Blue (91206)? I have the 75D for conceal carry (love it!) and looking for a full size that I can use for USPSA, probably Limited since I don't want to be confined to round limits in Production, and not aiming to use optics....and just all around target shooting. Just looking for a good, accurate gun.

I bought the SP-01 Shadow in late 2020 as a home defense pistol. Mostly because its been a bit of an aspirational gun for me. I've no regrets except for the weight and the price of the Shadow 1 has gone through the roof.
At this point in time though, if you were to pick a home defense gun, would you pick an SP-01 Shadow, a P-09 or a Shadow 2?
Or something else altogether?

If you really want to shoot limited you should look at the TS lineup of pistols. They are dedicated Limited guns and are really easy to shoot well. Limited allows major which pretty much requires 40S&W to make major. I'm fond of my TSO's in 40.
Otherwise, I'd shoot your 75D in production and get a feel for what division you want to play in. Plus you will get plenty of training on your carry rig.
To answer your question, the shadow doesn't have a firing pin block so it will have a shorter reset. The new competition SP01's are fluffed and buffed SPO1's but I'm not sure the juice is worth the squeeze. I'd look for a shadow 2 optic ready variant (to give you the option down the road) over the shadow you have referenced.
The reality is that all of these guns are competitive in the right hands. Find one that fits you and has a natural point of aim and go practice.

Questions though - I thought the main difference between the Tactical and the Shadow was the firing pin block?

I use a Shadow 2 both for defense and ASI matches. Not sure on all the USPSA rules and divisions, but this is a great choice for what I am doing. Weight is no issue and in my case really smooths out the recoil impulse. The sights are on the next target before I can get the my trigger finger back to the wall. Phantom if you can find one is great as is the SP-01 Tactical. Not sure I would be that worried about firing pin block, have guns with and without; couple thousand rounds and I can not tell the difference. You can clean them up where you have a hard time knowing that they are present.

With an SP-01 Tactical or Phantom, both are decocker-only (no manual safety). Both of mine are out of production models (SP-01 Tac is a .40, Phantom is a first gen).
CZ doesn't make a Shadow with a decocker.

if you are thinking of trying uspsa ide suggest starting in limited minor. shadow 2 is a great 9mm - and a great way to get started. fantastic gun for the $.
get in, learn the ropes, make your way to B class then re-evaluate. Until then the minor points penalty really wont affect you. I'm also a fan of the sp01 bull shadow and cts-lsp. I also see a ton of canik tp9sfx at matches with newish shooters up through B class.. one of the less $ ways to start.. I wouldnt recommend anything with a decocker.. pretty much screws up the trigger.
also production stinks for new shooters. WAY too much math to deal with while learning the basics. Seeing a new shooter make that mistake once is pretty common.. but by their second match they are loaded up to the max and shooting limited minor.
if you dont reload yet, its a hard time to start, primers are $$$ and scarce. and factory 40sw is $$$. I see plenty of bulk 9mm online for reasonable.

I would go the shadow 2 route. You will be able to shoot production or limited. If you decide you like limited you can get some mag extensions, a magwell, and maybe an SAO trigger and your good to go. If you decide you like reloaded all the bleep time (im in this boat) and want to stay in production then its oretty much good to go as is. Mine has a lot of cajun parts and some lok grips I mutilated to fit my hand better and thats it.
To be honest I dont see the lure with the SP01 competition I would just upgrade the stuff myself with cajun parts and choose my own grips. also not sure why they added mag extensions to a gun that IMO seems designed for production division.

Some kind of Shadow is sub-optimal for limited. If you want a competitive CZ limited gun, get some kind of Tactical Sport.
That said, look at Carry Optics. An SP-01 Shadow or Shadow 2 is a wonderful CO gun. It's a little more expensive to start in CO. But it's fabulously fun and a fist full of 9mm minor.
