I just bought some Norma Red Box 9mm 124g FMJ ammo at 15.25 ea. Shipping is free over $200. For me, they didn't charge tax this time (ship to NJ). Last time I ordered they (ammoshoponline.com) charged tax.

Getting better. Down to 30.5 cents/round. Free shipping and no sales tax are great. I'm guessing you were satisfied with them from your last order.
-
Yes. Last time I ordered Geco 9mm 115g ($15.50 ea) from them which I think is associated with Norma (Ruag). No issues with my PCR and P01 and fairly clean. They advertised the Geco as being made in Germany but it was made in EU (Hungary) which was fine. From what I read, the Geco made in Germany and Hungary have the regular FMJ but the Geco made in Switzerland is a bimetal metallic jacket. Ammo arrived in good shape via FedEx.
My friend got both Red and white box Norma from them. No issues firing.
I wonder if prices will eventually come back down to where it was? I remember paying $170 for a case of 9mm S&B.

Yea, the $170/case was pretty standard for a number of manufacturers a few years ago. Sometimes a little less, sometimes a little more. Not sure it will get back to that. Maybe under the climate of a pro 2A administration it possibly could. We'll have to wait and see. This Norma ammo is a good purchase considering the times, especially if you didn't stock up during the pre-covid years.

We may see some return to more reasonably priced ammo and components but I doubt we get back to where they were pre-plandemic. Fuel costs would need to go back to what they were and another thing is these companies have had to pay workers higher wages just to get people to work and they won't be able to take that away from people.
I generally load all my own ammo but if we could get back to $200/case for decent 9mm and see some reduction in loading component cost and more availability that would be nice.

I can't believe Im thinking this, but good deal :o

Just ordered some. It is a good price nowadays.
Thanks for the tip

Any time. They're OUT OF STOCK already. That was fast. Did they charge sales tax for you and which state? Curious. Thx.
-
I bought some and yes they charged me sales tax for Ohio
-
sales tax for Tennessee too.
-
OK. Thank you. Well, I was just lucky then.
-
Not bad. Still holding out for lower.

Got the shipping confirm. with tracking number yesterday (Wed) early morning but it still has not been picked up by FedEx. Hopefully it'll ship tomorrow.
EDIT: I just checked my previous order from November. It did take almost 48 hours from the creation of the label to FedEx picking up. So everything still seems normal.

I just ordered some Norma 9mm 124 FMJ first time trying it out. I've used the 22TAC in a BuckMark and had no problems so I figured I'd give the 9mm a try.
-
I've never had an issue with it in my CZ's. I recvd my ammo in four days via Fedex,
-
I ordered 1,500 rounds of the Norma 124 grain 9MM. It shoots fine and is fairly hot. Only issue is that the flash hole is too small for the punch on my Dillon press. This is a consideration for those of us that reload.

Just got mine today. Arrived in great shape.
-
Mine came yesterday. Got to wait for the snow to clear out before I head to the range to try it.
-
Went to the range yesterday. And when I got back home, the ammo was finally delivered. I'll have to wait until next time to try it.
-
I had a chance to go the range and I liked the way the Norma 124gr performed, Id buy again..

I think the Geco 115gr is cleaner than the S&B. Did you find the Norma 124gr fairly clean? I guess I'll find out soon enough.

I only shot 30 rounds and gave the barrel a quick clean and didn't notice anything unusual.
-
I've never used any Geco 124gr and just checked them out the price seems fair (for these crazy times 2022) if they are cleaner than the S&B I'm going to give them a try since I didn't mine the S&B.

I've used Geco, S&B, PPU, PMC, Remington, Winchester, Mag-Tech Federal, Freedom Munitions and some others through the years. I haven't noticed any of my weapons being considerably dirtier after using one brand over the other. I generally clean them after each range session, so they don't really have a chance to get real scrungy.

I agree

Norma has a more pungent smell than the other ammo I've shot, and there is a bit more smoke. Not sure if that has any practical implications.

I just shot some Sellier & Bellot 115gr and it too seemed to have an undesirable pungent odor.
-
Funny you mention about the smell. Last session, I shot about 100 rds of Geco 115 grain. And then I switched to my last 40 rounds of Remington Green box 115gr and the Remy smelled really strong, where I didn't notice much from the Geco.
And I always felt the Remington was the dirtiest of the others I tried: Amer Eagle, S&B and Geco. But I still consider myself a beginner. Another thing I noticed about the Geco is the underside of the cartridge rim is sharper than normal.

Next time I go to the range (outdoor) Ill pay more attention to the smell when using the Norma I don't recall any pungent odor. However I did notice the Norma Tac22 was the worst experience I've ever had with my BuckMark and I was using other brands and they shot perfect so it wasn't the gun. I've used Tac22 prior with no issues I'm wondering if maybe quality assurance was off that day??
