As many are aware, the Short Rail ended and the Pre-B started production during 1980. I recently came across the highest serial number for a Short Rail that I have seen with SN 258xx. The lowest SN for a 1980 Pre-B that I have seen is 261xx, a numerical difference of about 200.
It is based in the Czech Republic and, like many of the pistols of the era, was acquired from outside the country. In this case, it came (back) from Germany. It has the windage adjustable rear rights, is in excellent condition and with a matching (last three digits of SN) magazine. The finish is the standard blue however, it does not have the usual “double W” roll mark on the left top trigger guard. There is no box or the usual paperwork. The quest for the Last of the Short Rails continues!

I like very much the "bits" of CZ history that get filled in on this Forum.
A question for Psyop96... I notice the watermark applied to the photos on this thread...is this something that you are doing before posting or is this being done in the background by the Forum mods?

I do the watermark as I have posted it on the historical section of the forum. Just in case it’s pulled on to the internet or used by someone. The photos or guns are provided to me by individuals who let me use them and I feel the need to acknowledge them with a watermark for what it’s worth.
