I have contacted CZ Custom, twice, requesting a price for a trigger upgrade on my Shadow. No response. I have ordered from them numerous times in the past, and been very happy, but now I'm entertaining the thought of having Cajun do the work. My question is this- by prices posted on the sites, Cajun is more expensive- what does that get, in your real world experience? I do not shoot competitively, and I am only looking for an improved trigger- for the enjoyment of it. While price is a factor, if Cajun delivers a good value for the extra money, I would like to give them a try. I am aware that CZ Custom is understaffed, but after two attempts at getting a quote, I'm ready to look at another direction. Any input, from experience, is helpful.
Second question, slightly chasing a rabbit- how about converting the Shadow to single action? Any input? Happy you did it, wish you hadn't etc.? I like SA, and I'm not hung up on having a double action feature. My current thought is to keep the action stock, other than lighter and smoother, but if the result is great, I could be persuaded to go SAO.
Again, thanks. A forum made up of experienced individuals is invaluable, saving mistakes and money.

I had a similar experience trying to accomplish my goals with P-01.
I had no experience with CZ Custom other that buying parts from them, but CGW treated me really fairly. I didn't want to sent my pistol to them and waste couple weeks to smoothen the action and with simple email exchange and great advices from one of CGW guys I bought parts he recommended and did the job myself.
Cajun is very responsive with the emails and their advices are really great.
I wouldn't mind to spend more money on the firearm and sending it to CGW, instead of CZ Custom.

I have used both, CZ Custom far more than CGW, but both are responsive to customers and do outstanding work. Can't go wrong with either.

I don't own a shadow but recently I upgraded an new SP01 manual safety with the CGW race hammer kit and flat aluminum SAO trigger and floating trigger pin etc.. I removed the firing pin block.
You ought to try the work yourself!! Not hard.
Anyway, I am very pleased with the outcome. SA is sub 2 lbs.
Every pistol is different.
I did not have to polish etc stuff.
Some pistols need it...
So, yes, SAO is worthwhile.
My similarly CGW modded 85C has a CZUB disco so it also has a nice action.

I have had excellent response from the guys at Cajun. CZ not so much, but to be fair, I have only tried them a time or two.
For service I would go to Cajun first. 8)

Both Stuart at Cz and David at Cajun have been most helpful with my questions , often replying on the weekend or night. Would not hesitate to recommend either. Their products and help are outstanding!

CGW. Better customer service and punctual replies compared to CZ Custom. Didn’t get any replies from CZ Custom either through email or PM when I had a question.

Thank you for your replies, so far. Stuart did email me with a list of some improvements, but not a price (an answer to my original question). I think that I am leaning towards CGW, for a new experience.

I have never dealt with CGW.
I have had CZ Custom do work on two of my CZs. They are 90 minutes up the road from where I live.
Stuart has been very responsive to my questions on which models to buy and what work needs to be done. The work they have performed has been first class and made fine pistols even better.
He has been responsive to phone calls, emails, and generous with his time when I have been in the shop peppering him with questions.

I've had both CZC and CGW work on my guns and both do outstanding work and are quick to ship parts out.
However, when it comes to customer service and prompt answers to questions CGW goes the extra mile.

Im old school and still like to make phone calls on occasion. CGW Will still do that IME.

I've used them both. I find that CGW tends to be more responsive via email and phone vs CZ Custom.
My opinion is solely based on customer service responsiveness. Product quality wise, I don't think you can go wrong with either.

You never know-up until recently I was a huge fan of CGW- then I had the second 97 sent in for an E conversion, after I had really good results with the first 97E. I was not happy with the trigger and sent it back to CGW. When they got it back, they said it was perfect and wanted me to pay to have it sent back. It is a long way from perfect, as my local gunsmith, who does really great work, agrees, and will do a trigger job on it to remove creep. The owner of my local range is a longtime competitive shooter and he agrees with me as well.
I will no longer use CGW for any work, mainly because of this incident. CGW has always done great in the past, but this time not so much 8)

I can’t compare the 2 as I have had no dealings with CZC. CGW however was very helpful through multiple quick email responses to questions I had during my first project. This was installing a full Pro Kit and 10X barrel bushing on a Shadow 2.

I've had great results with either. I had some pricing on some 97 upgrades and Stuart was responsive and informative and the work seems great. I've used CGW in the past (years ago) and they are also great. I like to run CGW SAO triggers and buy parts form them if I'm doing the work. They actually SAVED me money by letting me know that SAO parts are cheaper than the full pro kit (some parts aren't needed).

CGW has the fastest shipping department I’ve encountered firearms related.
Every time I’ve ordered they’ve shipped the next business day and at times I’ve ordered before noon and it’s shipped the same day. I’ve ordered plenty from cz custom as well but they aren’t as fast shipping wise, I don’t think their website is as user friendly either. Every cz custom part I have is quality and I’ve never felt like one is better than the other, one just has better customer service. I had a problem with my A01 and it took 4-5 days to get someone on the phone.
