I really don't want this thread to turn into a I conceal for this reason or that reason, or hear stories about friends or family. I would just like everybody to answer a simple question with a " yes or no " and if it's a "yes" explain please. Here's the question.............
When you Concealed Carry has anybody ever asked you what the Bulge under your shirt sweater or jacket is ??
-
No
-
Never.
That is simply not a question you would ask someone, where I live, period. And if they did, I'd know they weren't from around here and I'd make it clear it is none of their business.
-
No
-
no
-
Nope. The only people that have noticed are friends that know I carry, and they were looking for it specifically.
-
Not so far.
-
Nope.
Nor have I ever noticed anyone else printing. Except for my youngest son who can be a bit careless about how well he conceals.
-
No
-
No; I think anyone would consider it rude to ask.
-
Nope. If they did I’d just say Im happy to see them.
-
Not yet.
In the past, new gun/new holster, I'd ask my wife to look me over standing, walking. Bending over to pick something up would show it for sure, so I try not to drop stuff.

No never. Why do you ask??
-
No, …..in Wyoming every one is armed
-
Nope.
-
Yes....I've had several Ladies ask me what that bulge.....uhhh...ohhhh... wait....wrong bulge. ;)
No.
-
No, But the bulge is a 25' tape measure.
-
No.
-
No, nobody has ever noticed me printing and asked me about it, not in over 20 years of off-and-on CCW.
-
I've had my CPL ten years come May and carry OWB, but no one has ever mentioned anything. As far as I know, I've never been made. In WA we have constitutional open carry (I've never encountered anyone doing it), so I don't take much effort to conceal except to not tuck my shirt. If someone does see me printing the worst that can happen is a cop has reasonable suspicion to demand to see my CPL. Weather here throughout most of the year means you don't skimp on clothing, but I've never had a problem even in summer with just a t-shirt.
-
I doubt we will see very many if any yes answers to this. The average person doesn't pay close enough attention to their surroundings to ever notice such things. Most can't take their eyes off their idiot box to keep from walking into something. Who honestly other than a police officer investigating something would walk up and ask if a person has a gun anyway?
-
No
-
Tell them that it's a colostomy. They won't ask again...
-
Never had that happen. I was carrying my Ruger LCR when I first got it and my shirt had rode up due to the rubber grip and a guy next to me let me know at a store.
-
NO,i live in Oklahoma and we are constitutional carry.
I carry open or covered depending on were i am going.
Most all around here carry so there is none of the ( what is that under your shirt ) comments from anyone.
I do not get hassled when i open carry in hotter months either.
-
Out here in Arizona we have had open carry for over 100 years, so people kinda got used to it. When we went Constitutional Carry 12 years ago, open carry dropped off quite a bit but even so, I have never been asked that question. I also dress around the gun, so I look kinda sloppy, to be honest. I carried the full size CZ SP-01 Phantom IWB in a High Noon Down Under for quite a while and never had an issue. If someo0ne saw me printing, they didn't say anything. Nowadays, anyone seeing something on your belt bulging your covering garment will probably assume it's a cell phone pouch.

These are great answers gang, hopefully we can get everybody on the Forum to answer.
I'm thinking maybe now I should have stuck in this question to go along with it....
if your answer is " NO ", does your state allow printing ??
Now I actually wonder how many states do not allow printing of a concealed firearm? If anybody knows of any post them.
Keep the answers coming guys.
-
There are no stipulations about 'printing' in my state laws.
No CWL/permit required. Open carry allowed.
-
No stipulations about 'printing' in NC state laws. (that I know)
Never been asked......
-
No
-
No.
-
I've never had any comment about printing.
I was in one gunshop where one of the sales guys made the claim that shoulder holsters were no good for concealment and that he could always spot someone wearing one.
I then asked him how many times he noticed mine? He was real quiet for the rest of the time I was in there.
-
Nope. Never been asked.

I'm not an expert on "printing" laws in various states, but I am aware of a few conditions which may or may not be accurate or current. My understanding about Florida is that it is concealed carry only and that "printing" or otherwise revealing your CCW is illegal. In Texas my understanding is that "printing" doesn't exist in a legal sense, and also didn't exist prior to open carry or constitutional carry being made legal. On public college campuses in Texas, open carry is still banned, but concealed carry is legal... still nothing in the law about "printing" that I'm aware of. In Colorado, open carry is legal in the entire state except for in Denver, which is concealed only. Not sure if "printing" is a legal issue there. Florida is actually the only state I hear about regularly having that issue, but that is among the primarily southern and southwestern states I travel between and concern myself with.

And what is an answer for OP question? O0
-
No
Someone needs larger CCW sweaters & jackets!. Before I lost 50lbs after Wuhan flu & my stroke, I was large enough to easily CCW a 1911 on my hip. Now that my clothes are all bigger than me, it should be even easier, after I buy some pants that'll actually stay up (I dare not CCW now, as my pants are all way too big - replacing my battlebelt is gonna be the be-otch and an expensive one at that!). I might even go back to a shoulder holster at this point. THE secret to CCW is wardrobe, wardrobe, wardrobe!!! ;D

I already answered his original question in a previous reply:
No, nobody has ever noticed me printing and asked me about it, not in over 20 years of off-and-on CCW.
Then he came back and made an inquiry about each person's local laws regarding "printing", so I shared what I knew about "printing" laws in certain states, in and around where I normally CCW. Basically, I don't believe "printing" exists as a legal concept in my state of residence, or surrounding states where I sometimes travel, with the exception of Florida, where I actually haven't been for about 35 years now.

Sorry @CCWLearner.. that makes me a "moron" O0 ::) ;) :P
Looks I lost the track of the whole discussion. :o

No problem. It's hard to keep up with who said what in a thread like this, with several pages worth of one-line responses.
Anyway, back on the topic, if I remember correctly you live in Illinois, which is one of those states I avoid passing through on a road trip due to no reciprocity for my Texas LTC. Better to go from ex. Indiana to Kentucky to Tennessee and not have to leave my gun in the car when I stop for gas and food. So what is the rule about "printing" or revealing your concealed firearm in your state?

Hey, you are always welcomed in IL ;D
Just drive through as fast as you can. ;)
"Printing" for us is very favorable. IL Gun Law says:
fully concealed or partially concealed, on or about his or her person;.
The problem is made by people, who can be scared seeing shape or part of the firearm.
I personally never had any problem with it. I saw several people whos handgun was visible at grocery stores while reaching out for items at top shelves. From Law perspective it's OK.

My belief is you make the decision to conceal carry you dress around your weapon.
-
Seems to me that if you have a bulge in your clothing, you are not really carrying concealed.
Thats why I carry a Kahr P380 in the summer here. When its colder I have a Kahr PM9 or Sig P365.
I dont belong to the group that thinks you need a 17rd gun with 3 extra mags on you. I carry 1 extra.
-
I can carry my P-07 in summer or winter, but I definitely have to dress around it. It's too bulky to carry with a tucked shirt as a cover garment, creating an obvious bulge, so I can only carry it with an untucked shirt or a jacket as a cover garment.
I also have a single-stack .380 that is much easier to conceal, either IWB or in a pocket holster, and can be carried with a tucked polo shirt in a fairly discreet way. It's a lot easier to dress around. I also have a fanny pack setup for it that works well at the gym or while bike riding, and an ankle holster that I basically never use.
I also carry a single spare mag, either an 8-rounder in a leather pocket organizer inside my offhand pocket for the .380, or a 15-rounder in a OWB horizontal mag pouch for my P-07. I could run a couple of 17-rounders in a double mag holder I have, but to me that seems pointless. I carry a spare mag mainly to deal with a malfunction, not because I expect to be mag dumping multiple mags in a self-defense situation.
If I want to open carry my P-07, I can... it is legal here and in most surrounding states, and I have a couple of active retention holsters for that, but I basically never do. To me, that is only appropriate for a situation where you are in the wilderness or on some rural land, or a situation where other people are also open-carrying so it is standard practice. Other that that, "concealed means concealed".

That's the whole point of this thread just goes to show nobody really knows what you're carrying, they don't really know that could be a colostomy bag.
Don't worry about printing keep calm and carry on.
The only people that would really notice that you might be carrying are other people that carry for self-defense anyway period
-
Hey guys, I believe this thread is starting to show in the 40-plus answers that have been given , that even if people notice your buldge they're not saying anything, which means if they did notice you are printing they're not asking. Which also proves that they still don't know.
So don't worry about printing Carry whatever you want Keep Calm and Carry On.
-
Well, I see people printing all the time. I guess I notice stuff like that. But I would never ask them about it.
If they want other people to know they are carrying, thats their business-lol.

My point exactly, the only people that ever really notice are those that carry legally themselves. You don't have to worry about them.
