Title: Armalite Ar-24K update double feed malfuntion
Post by: CzCamur on February 28, 2022, 06:42:28 PM
hello guys,

After the previous post i have now shot it and i get some double feed. I ran 124gr magtech ammo and most of the time i get malfunctions. The mags are fine i bought 3 new ones and all give same results.
My armalite came with one recoil spring, i have seen online that compact models usually comes with dual recoil springs. Is the recoil spring too weak? wich correct recoil spring is correct to use? (lb?)
I cleaned around the extractor where the firing pin fires too. I cleaned it good and will try again with 115gr next time.

Any tips and helps i will prisiate!

Best regards from Norway!

I would not blame your Recoil Spring.

In my experience, a weak Extractor Spring is most often the problem.  My first choice would be to obtain a stronger Extractor Spring.  Wolff Cz75 Extra Power Extractor Springs come a bit over-size and may be fitted to your Pistol.  Should the Wolff Extractor Spring not fit your Pistol, a hack would to to pre-tension the Extractor Spring by putting a small spacer, plastic or metal, at the base of the Extractor Spring shaft.

Another possibility is that the Barrel's Chamber could use a bit of polish, which can be done by putting a cleaning rod in a Drill, with a Nylon Bore Brush and a patch with Flitz Polishing Compound on it.  You can use toothpaste if you can't find Flitz.  Make only a few passes with it as you should take care not to remove much metal or chrome lining.

Thank you!

I will try replacing the extractor spring first. However when i put snap caps and cycle it it doesnt jam it operates normally. but i will replace extractor spring first and see from there:)
