Title: Which 457 in a KRG Bravo Chassis
Post by: Grizzlie on March 12, 2022, 07:57:06 AM
I'm planning on setting up a rimfire "duplicate" of my .308 Howa 1500 24" which is in a KRG Bravo Chassis. I'm wondering which CZ457 to get for this project of mine.
My options are
CZ 457 Camo Stainless 20"
CZ 457 Synthetic 20" - (cheapest)
CZ 457 Varmint 20" (thickest barrel)
CZ 457 American 24" (longest)

Aside from the Synthetic being the cheapest, the others are priced very similarily. All have a threaded barrel for future silencer fun and lack sights as a scope is a must.

Any opinions/suggestions?

I’d say if you can find the MTR 457 do that one if not the Pro Varmint. I shoot the 16.5” in the factory Boyd’s stock and wonder if I’d get 25-30 fps slower with a 20” barrel and tighter groups at distance.  Anyways that’s what I’d suggest. Last Sunday I got my longest confirmed impact in a match at 389 yds using it. They are fun.

I second the suggestion of getting the MTR. The only reason I bought the Pro Varmint was the unavailability of the MTR. The varmint has been a great shooter for me and my teenaged daughter. No problems with any of the ammo I used but the best grouping came from using Eley and Winchester Super X.

MTR currently unavailable.

However, the At-One is. Is this an MTR-clone but with a threaded barrel? (and Boyds stock)

The MTR and the Long Range Precision have a match chamber with tighter  tolerances if you’re after accuracy.

Well, aren't we all in the persuit of accuracy ;)

My LGS is literally in the middle of getting info about various orders and yesterday they got word they'll have a Varminet Thumbhole available at the end of the month. The MTR they don't expect until...next year.
You'd think with us being neighbours with CZ we'd have a bit more options and stability in terms of stock...

I put 2 of the CZ 457 Varmint At-Ones in KRG Bravo chassis, both turned out great

I’m doing a build also using the KRG Bravo chassis. I purchased a 457 varmint with the 20.5” barrel.
